More than 1 million Jeep Wranglers and Jeep Gladiators have been recalled due to a fire risk.
The recall dated June 9 applies to Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles with model years between 2021 and 2025.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring may overheat and cause a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the “Off” position.
The NHTSA is aware of 51 fires and one injury that are likely due to this issue.
Owners are asked to park outside and away from homes and buildings until repairs are made. Dealers will inspect and replace affected parts, as necessary, free of charge.
Owner notification letters have been mailed, or owners may contact Chrysler (FCA US LLC) customer service at 1-800-853-1403. The number for this recall is 21D.
The Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in the recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on June 11.
