Man Shot in North Portland Park, Police Search for Suspect – KXL

PORTLAND, OR – Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot and seriously injured Saturday morning in Northgate Park in north Portland, authorities said.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 8:45 a.m. in the park near North Geneva Avenue south of Fessenden Street.

According to PPB officers, they arrived to find a man with an apparent gunshot wound and began trauma first aid until an ambulance took him to a hospital. It is believed the injury was serious but not life-threatening, and the man was expected to survive.

Investigators set up a crime scene and searched the area for a suspect or suspects, but no one had been arrested as of noon, police said. Authorities said any suspect had left the area before officers arrived.

The bureau’s Enhanced Community Safety Team responded to the scene and is leading the investigation.
