Police are investigating a shooting at Laney College in Oakland on Thursday.The shooting happened before noon at the community college near Lake Merritt. Acting Police Chief Oakland James Beere said police received reports of the shooting in and around the campus. Officers found the victim with a gunshot wounded and he was taken to a local hospital. Beere said this was not believed to be an active shooting. Police were looking for a potential suspect who was dressed in all-black clothing who fled the scene.Beere did not reveal details on who was shot or where it happened. The school’s website said classes were canceled “due to an emergency” and people should not come to the campus. The shooting comes a day after a student was shot at Skyline High School in Oakland. The student is expected to recover.
