Eagles injury report: Saquon Barkley upgraded ahead of Giants game

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was upgraded to a limited participant on Tuesday as he works through some soreness in his knee.

Barkley was listed as a non-participant on the first injury report of the week on Monday before being upgraded on Tuesday, but is fully expected to play against the Giants at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night.

“Nothing I’m too worried about,” Barkley said on Tuesday. “Some general soreness and I’m excited to go play.”

The Eagles are not practicing this week because they play on short rest and are holding walkthroughs. So this injury report is an estimation:

Did not participate: LG Landon Dickerson (ankle), TE Grant Calcaterra (oblique)

Limited: RB Saquon Barkley (knee), LB Jihaad Campbell (biceps), DT Byron Young (triceps)

Full: LB Nakobe Dean (knee)

Both Dickerson and Calcaterra have been listed as DNPs for the first two days of this week and it seems very possible both will miss the Eagles’ Week 6 game against the Giants.

Dickerson, 27, has started all five games in 2025 but has been dealing with several injuries. He injured his ankle on Sunday and played just 12 snaps against the Broncos before exiting that game. Dickerson was seen leaving the Eagles’ locker room with his left ankle wrapped after the loss.

If Dickerson can’t play, expect 29-year-old veteran Brett Toth to start in his place. Toth has played 60 offensive snaps this season and has been the backup left tackle. Toth has started just two games in his career and hasn’t started a game since 2023.

If Calcaterra can’t play, the Eagles’ tight ends for this game would be Dallas Goedert, Kylen Granson and Cameron Latu.

The Eagles activated Dean’s 21-day practice window last Wednesday. Dean was a full participant for the first time last Friday and has now been full for the first two days of this week. After rehabbing from a torn patellar tendon suffered in the wild-card round against the Packers in January, it’s possible Dean makes his return on Thursday.

Here’s the latest on the Giants’ injury situation with a couple of offensive starters listed as DNP again:

DNP: LB Swayze Bozeman (Ankle), OT Jermaine Eluemunor (Back), LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (Hamstring), WR Darius Slayton (Hamstring)

Limited: S Dane Belton (Shoulder), S Jevón Holland (Calf), S Tyler Nubin (Groin) ,CB Dru Phillips (Hip), RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. (Shoulder)

Full: QB Jaxson Dart (Hamstring)
