My love for Salt & Stone begins with its Saffron & Cedar Body Mist. I was hooked on this sweet and ambery fragrance upon first spritz, and I have yet to go a day without wearing it. So when Salt & Stone, the best of the best in aluminum-free deodorants, released a body cream in Saffron & Cedar and two other fan-loved scents (Santal & Vetiver and Bergamot & Hinoki), I knew I had to try the newest addition for myself.

Salt & Stone.

Salt & Stone Body Cream Ingredients

But first, what is Salt & Stone’s Body Cream? It’s a deeply hydrating, ultra-rich formula that absorbs fast and provides lasting scent, per the brand. The ingredients responsible for its moisturizing effects include seaweed extracts, spirulina, saccharide isomerate, squalane, and argan oil, and you can read the benefits of each below:

  • Seaweed extracts and spirulina – soothes and restores skin
  • Saccharide isomerate – moisturizes skin
  • Squalane – helps skin retain moisture
  • Argan oil – moisturizes and promotes skin elasticity

When I previously chatted with Dr. Marie Hayag for a story on the best face moisturizers, she suggested formulas packed with antioxidants for protecting against damage and combating signs of aging, humectants for moisturizing and maintaining a healthy skin barrier, and emollients for soothing and softening the skin. Lucky for me (and you), Salt & Stone’s body creams contain all three. It incorporates seaweed extracts and spirulina, which are chock-full of antioxidants; saccharide isomerate, which is a plant-derived humectant; squalane, which is an emollient with antioxidant properties; and argan oil, which is an oil packed with antioxidants.

Basically, the Body Cream has all the makings of a solid formula. I would know because I’ve been testing the newest launch.

My Salt & Stone Body Cream Review

After applying the Body Cream on dry, clean skin in the morning and at night, my skin felt incredibly smooth, soft, and hydrated. The formula delivers on everything it claims, including that it absorbs quickly. My skin drank up the luxe goop and didn’t leave it feeling greasy. What surprised me is that the cream moisturized my skin from the inside out—as in, my skin visibly appeared more hydrated (or glowy, if you will) after application. I think you’ll just have to try the product for yourself to understand what I mean.

I will say, though, I’m not sure whether two daily applications are necessary. This formula is moisturizing enough to use once a day, but if you’re trying to extend the lasting power of the Body Cream’s scent, applying it twice may be the way to go. While I wish the Salt & Stone fragrances lingered longer on my skin, I’m convinced that layering the body cream and body mist will amplify the aroma.

Salt & Stone Body Cream Fragrances

This skin hydration essential comes in three fragrances: Santal & Vetiver, Bergamot & Hinoki, and Saffron & Cedar. Go for fan-favorite Santal & Vetiver if you prefer warm and woody aromas, Bergamot & Hinoki if you’re a citrus and woody fragrance enthusiast, and Saffron & Cedar if you, like me, lean towards sweet and ambery scents. Here’s a breakdown of each scent, though Saffron & Cedar takes the cake for me and is what I’d personally recommend to a friend.

Saffron & Cedar Notes:

  • Top — Saffron, Neroli
  • Heart — Jasmine, Oakmoss, Surf Wax
  • Base — Sugar Cane, Cedarwood

Santal & Vetiver Notes:

  • Top — Australian Sandalwood, Amber
  • Heart — Orris, Ambrox, Cedar
  • Base — Violet Leaves, Vetiver, Crystal

Bergamot & Hinoki Notes:

  • Top — Italian Bergamot, Grapefruit
  • Heart — Hinoki, Vetiver
  • Base — Eucalyptus, Amber, Orange Blossom

The Bottom Line

If you’re in the market for a body cream that delivers deep hydration and leaves skin feeling buttery-smooth, Salt & Stone’s Body Cream is worth a try. If you’re looking for a body cream that does double duty and also gives off an amazing scent, you know what to add to your cart. Salt & Stone makes really chic products, and you might be surprised the brand isn’t considered luxury. For just $42, the Body Cream looks and feels expensive (its formula, fragrance, and packaging are top-tier). So, I say go for it! If you can shell out $42 for a jar of moisturizing, scented body cream, make it Salt & Stone’s.
