Man wanted for Shadow Bay Park stabbing extradited to Orange County

A 20-year-old man is now in the Orange County jail for an apparently random stabbing at a Dr. Phillips area park.Michael Zaccardo is being held with no bond for attempted murder and faces an aggravated assault charge for a separate attack that happened the same day as the stabbing.Orange County deputies were called to Shadow Bay Park on Turkey Lake Road on June 29th. Park staff helped him until paramedics arrived, but the suspect had left by the time deputies arrived.Detectives focused on Zaccardo after someone who knows him came forward and said he was attacked by Zaccardo about seven hours before the stabbing. He said Zaccardo asked him to fight, and then “pulled out a black knife and chased the victim,” according to an arrest report.Authorities tracked Zaccardo down in Seattle and arrested him in early July. He was brought back to Orlando this weekend to face charges. Records show a new charge for battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest was added once he returned.
