NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A North Greenbush man is facing multiple charges after a domestic-related incident Friday evening. Police said two officers were injured while responding to the call.

Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, police were called to a Wynantskill home where Austin Kownack, 29, reportedly took a vehicle without permission and his children outside of a custody agreement. When he returned to the home, police said he became aggressive toward family and police.

Officers attempted to take him into custody, but he allegedly became combative, injured both officers, and fled on foot. He was taken into custody in a nearby yard.

The officers were taken to the hospital for their injuries and released.

Kownack was charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned and sent to Rensselaer County Jail without bail due to prior felony convictions.

He is due back in court at a later date.
