follow up to these posts from 2017
Back in 2017, James Woods criticized the age gap between the main characters in Call Me By Your Name (Tim Tam’s character was 17 and Armie’s character was 24). Armie responded by tweeting, “Didn’t you date a 19 year old when you were 60?”
In response, Amber Tamblyn tweeted that when she was 16, James Woods, who was 52 at the time, spotted her and a friend at Mel’s Diner and propositioned them, offering to take them to Las Vegas. When Amber told him that she was only 16, he replied, “Even better.”
As a result, several other women came forward, including Elizabeth Perkins (who is 13 years younger than Woods) and Katie Aselton (who said the incident occurred when she was 19 and he was 50). Willa Holland’s mother tweeted that Woods had sexually harassed Willa on the set of the film Straw Dogs when she was 17 years old and Woods, 61, was playing her character’s father (an actress named Jill Benson who worked on the same film corroborated this accusation and witnessed unprofessional behavior from him). There were also multiple replies to Amber’s tweet from non-celebrity women who said he had hit on them when they were in their 20s and he was in his 50s.
James accused Amber of lying about this, so she wrote a detailed account for Teen Vogue about the incident which was confirmed by the friend who was with her when it happened.
A few days ago, an anti-MAGA account posted about these past accusations, prompting Woods to change his X/Twitter and Instagram accounts to private.
According to this website, he has a habit of dating much younger women (I am not familiar with this site so take the info with a grain of salt):
After his first marriage ended in a messy divorce, he began dating horse trainer Sarah Owen when she was 22 and he was 38. In 1987, she accused him of verbal and physical abuse, including pointing a gun at her and ordering her to strip, lie on the floor, and say, “I am a whore, I am a baby killer.” Two years later they were married, for barely four months. During their messy divorce, she told the tabloids Woods was addicted to pornography, had forced her to have an abortion, and that she had caught him masturbating outside her mother’s bedroom. He has since referred to her as “The AntiChrist.”
In a story that received widespread media attention, Woods dated Sean Young in 1988 (when she was 29 and he was 41), then sued her for harassment the next year, alleging she had sent him pictures of dead babies and animals, that either she or a friend of hers had destroyed his garden, left a mutilated doll on his doorstep, and generally acted like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. Young denied everything, but the lawsuit sealed her reputation as a nutcase. An aspect of the matter that drew less attention, however, is that the case was settled out-of-court, by Woods’ payment of a quarter-million dollars to Young.
He dated Heather Graham in 1992, when she was 22 to his 44. He announced his engagement to 23-year-old actress Missy Crider in 1997 (he was 50), but their wedding was later called off. He was romantically linked to Days of Our Lives actress Alexis Thorpe in 2001 when she was 19 and he was 54, and in 2006 when he was 59, he dated 19-year-old actress Ashley Madison, whom he had known since she was 5 — she is the daughter of an old friend. He publicly dropped Madison after complaining that she had come to his brother’s funeral wearing an inappropriately short mini-skirt. In the mid-90s/early 200s, he also dated Nicollette Sheridan and Lauren Holly (who are both 16 years younger than Woods).
According to the previous ONTD post, he also dated a 20 year old with a felony drug possession when he was 66.
