Another dangerous form of the “blackout challenge” has surfaced on TikTok, tragically resulting in the death of a 16-year-old girl in France.

Known as the “scarf game,” this variation of the challenge involves participants wrapping a cloth around their necks to the point of asphyxiation, causing them to lose consciousness. These challenges are highly perilous and can lead to severe injuries, seizures, and even fatalities.

The victim, Christy Sibali Dominique Gloire Gassaille, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, attempted the challenge at her home in Orléans. On May 27, she tragically lost her life, as reported by the New York Post, citing Jam Press.

Gassaille was laid to rest at the Fleury-les-Aubrais cemetery on June 7.

The “scarf game” is just one among several choking challenges that have gained popularity on TikTok. The video-sharing platform has faced substantial criticism for allowing such life-threatening trends and now faces wrongful death lawsuits in the United States.

However, it is worth noting that the content associated with these challenges violates TikTok’s Community Guidelines. A search for the “scarf game” on the platform yields no results, as reported by The Post.

The message displayed states, “This phrase may be associated with behavior or content that violates our guidelines. Promoting a safe and positive experience is TikTok’s top priority. For more information, we invite you to review our Community Guidelines.”

TikTok actively encourages users who encounter individuals participating in dangerous challenges to report those users, prioritizing the safety and well-being of its community.
