Xiaomi EV has achieved a milestone in autonomous driving after a Xiaomi YU7 GT equipped with the Track Package completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife entirely without a human driver. The vehicle recorded a lap time of 10:29.483 over the circuit’s 20.8-kilometer layout under the Nürburgring’s official timing and certification procedures. As a result, the Nürburgring has introduced a new official Autonomous Driving category under its electric vehicle classifications.
The achievement marks the first officially recognized autonomous driving lap on one of the world’s most demanding racing circuits, highlighting advances in AI-powered vehicle control and autonomous driving technologies.
Completing one of the world’s toughest circuits
During the record-setting run, the Xiaomi YU7 GT autonomously negotiated the Nordschleife’s 73 corners, approximately 300 meters of elevation change, and continuously changing road surfaces without human intervention.
Long regarded as one of the world’s most challenging proving grounds for automotive engineering, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is widely used by manufacturers to validate vehicle dynamics, durability, and performance under extreme conditions.
According to Xiaomi EV, the successful lap demonstrates the capability of its autonomous driving system to maintain vehicle stability while handling high-speed sections, technical corners, and rapidly changing grip levels.
Advancing autonomous driving with AI
Xiaomi has continued developing its autonomous driving technology since introducing Xiaomi HAD in 2024.
In March 2026, the company launched a new vehicle platform built on the Xiaomi XLA architecture and the MiMo-Embodied foundation model, enabling stronger environmental understanding, improved reasoning capabilities, and more advanced decision-making.
The autonomous driving system combines an end-to-end architecture with a vehicle dynamics model that continuously analyzes road conditions and vehicle behavior while coordinating steering, braking, and power delivery in real time.
