Whilst birding the Jubail area I came across a close White-throated Kingfisher sitting in an area next to the track. The trouble was the bird was directly into the sun, which made taking good photos difficult.  It appears there are at least three different birds in the area I visit that have been around for the entire year, as this is a different bird in a different location to one I photographed earlier this month. The species has become much more common over the last few years and is now an uncommon resident in the area, possibly breeding. In early 2000’s it was regarded as a vagrant in the Eastern Province. This particular bird also started calling at one point suggesting another bird may have been close by, but I did not manage to see it if this was the case.
