“IT IS OUR HOPE THAT BY 2026, LONDOLOZI WILL BE A BEACON OF LIGHT IN THE WORLD. A PLACE THAT PEOPLE WILL LOOK TO AS A MODEL FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF LIVING IN DEEP HARMONY WITH EACH OTHER AND THE NATURAL WORLD. A PLACE WHERE EACH PERSON BELONGS TO THE MOVEMENT TO RESTORE OUR PLANET” — Dave Varty

“Globally, greenhouse gas emissions must be substantially cut to meet international net-zero targets. Hydrogen as a fuel is central to achieving these goals. It is a game-changing source of energy that can be used as both a raw material for industry and as a power source for transport and the home. It has the potential to make a significant impact in the fight against climate change. It’s time to embrace hydrogen” – INEOS Automotive

On our 100-year journey, Londolozi has recognised that a sustainable future living with people, wildlife, and the planet has to start today. Londolozi’s prototype Futuristic African Village is an experimental space of working examples demonstrating how technology can be utilised to reduce and measure the human impact within a wilderness area. Our vision is dedicated to a global shift in consciousness, by embracing a low-impact lifestyle and lowering our own demand for finite resources like water and electricity in every aspect of our business. Londolozi is always striving for best practices in renewable energy, striving to find ways to leave as little footprint as possible on the planet.

What has always been at the forefront of our minds is the intention to migrate our entire fleet of game-drive vehicles to a sustainable safari vehicle option by the year 2026, our 100th birthday. Since 2006, we have been searching for answers that have a sustainable solution. Our intention over the years has been to explore any and all possibilities with many successes and failures along this journey.

So it was with great excitement that INEOS Automotive chose Londolozi as the place to launch the brand new INEOS Grenadiers in 2022!

Grenadier Londolozi15

What an honour it was to host such a forward-thinking team, who share our vision in making technology more sustainable for our planet. As part of this incredible experience, Londolozi had the opportunity to see the unveiling of the first-ever Grenadier Safari vehicle concept. As we saw this vehicle move effortlessly across the Londolozi landscape – with the knowledge that the future iterations may very well be propelled by INEOS Hydrogen technology – we realised what an ultimate 100th birthday present this would be. This vehicle might leapfrog our previous dream of deploying a fleet of electric-powered safari vehicles, and replace that concept with green hydrogen instead, but the research will tell us more.

Here is what we discovered…

Looking for Solutions – The INEOS vision

A new solution to green game-drive vehicles may be on the horizon. We were lucky to be a part of the unveiling of the first-ever INEOS Grenadier Safari Vehicle Concept, where INEOS has recognised that using hydrogen as a fuel is central to achieving these goals. The EU and European governments have made laudable commitments to support the development of Europe’s hydrogen economy, contributing to critical net-zero targets by 2050. INEOS is in a unique position to lead the transition to a hydrogen-powered economy, playing a leading role in supporting these efforts.

We look forward to learning more together with INEOS on our never-ending mission, for the preservation and protection of the planet as we approach our centenary year in 2026.

Londolozi is on the hunt for whatever the solution may be, so much research still needs to be done. However, seeing this incredible company in action first-hand, we are dreaming that by 2026, this initiative might just go a long way towards contributing to our broader goal of reducing our impact, as well as delivering a deeper, meditative wildlife experience for our guests.

As a family-owned and run business, we will never stop searching for ways to get more sustainable, looking for solutions that might change how we live on our planet. Partnering with leaders in the sustainability field allows this dream to come about faster.
