Have you heard of the Pink Full Moon? No, it’s not a fancy new cocktail or the latest Instagram trend. It’s actually a term used to describe the full moon that appears every April.
But don’t be fooled by the name — this full moon isn’t actually pink in colour. The name comes from the pink flowers that typically bloom in April, such as the wild ground phlox. How sweet is that?
The Pink Full Moon is just one of several traditional names for full moons that have been used by different cultures throughout history. Some other names for the full moon in April include the Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon, and Fish Moon. These names were often used by Indigenous cultures to track the changing seasons and the passage of time.
It’s worth noting that the exact timing and appearance of the Pink Full Moon can vary depending on where you are in the world. According to astrologist and founder of crystal-infused soy candle company Myles Gray, Janelle Palibrk, this April’s Pink Full Moon is set to land on April 6, 2023, and is all about letting go.
