A follow up to this post.
To no one’s surprise, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” bowed at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 716,000 album-equivalent units (507k pure). Of those pure sales, vinyl sales accounted for 268,500. That beats the previous first week sales of the year so far, held by human trash Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time,” which debuted in March with 501K.
Swift has 3 other reasons to celebrate, as she has a total of four album in the top ten of the Billboard 200: 2022’s “Midnights” at No. 5, 2019’s “Lover” at No. 7 and 2020’s “Folklore” at No. 10. She’s the only living artist to do this.
With this no. 1 debut, Taylor Swift officially becomes the woman with the most #1 albums in Billboard 200 history. She also becomes the first artist in history to have 9 albums sell over 500,000 copies in a single week in the US.
Once again for comparison, Fearless (TV) sold 291K (179K pure album sales) and Red (TV) sold 605K (369K pure album sales).
