After undergoing a full transformation in Summer 2022, the Soho branch of the renowned Nikkei restaurant reopened in September to reveal a sleek, contemporary new look, just in time for the most wonderful time of the year!
Chotto Matte landed in 2013, with founder Kurt Zdesar bringing the vibrant spirit of Tokyo and the taste of Lima to the heart of Soho. It soon became a staple on London’s restaurant scene, mirroring its eclectic environment and continuously seeking creative influence through art and diversity.
All the brand’s most iconic features are still found within the new design, including Japanese lava stone, shou sugi ban wood, and a variation of wall art inspired by Tokyo’s contemporary urban culture by artist Lefty Out There featuring intricate neon patterns.
The brand-new bar and lounge featuring the Tokyo to Lima cocktail menu is the perfect place for a Christmas party and share some of Chotto Matte’s very own Pale Ale. Decorated with tropical foliage as a nod to the Peruvian rainforest, with deep earth and jewel tones, shimmering surfaces and cosy, velvety booths, Soho’s lounge area is on the path to becoming one of Soho’s prime bar destinations, the perfect winter escape for some cosy drinks away from the hustle and bustle of the street.
Available for walks ins and open from 12pm to 1:30am, it is the ideal spot to meet friends, family, and loved ones for an evening out in Soho and its surroundings, with fantastic drinks and bar food options available, including the iconic sweet padron peppers with den miso. By night, the space becomes an atmospheric social hub with a DJ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to get into the party mood! The newly launched Tokyo to Lima cocktail menu, created by Global Bar Manager Gabor Fodor, features drinks elevated by herbs, spices, and citrus fruits native to Peru, alongside classic cocktails – including the signature Chotto Matte Pisco Sours, and a selection of wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic alternatives to ensure everyone is satisfied!
On New Year’s Eve, guests will have the opportunity to celebrate the last day of 2022 with a fantastic champagne only Nikkei brunch from 12:00noon onwards, before getting ready for the night’s festivities. Head to Chotto Matte Soho for holiday vibes, and kiss goodbye to 2022, Nikkei style, with the special New Year’s Eve offering, with its early seating, late seating, and including a glass of champagne on arrival, live DJs and a 3am license.
New Year’s Eve Specials have been expertly curated by Executive Chef Jordan Sclare and include Robata duck breast with foie gras teriyaki, lobster tempura and grilled diver scallops anticucho.
