On Sunday, October 26, the fashion and film industries converged on the Paramount Studios backlot for Vogue World: Hollywood. The style spectacular—where major houses like Louis Vuitton and Balmain collaborated with costume designers like Colleen Atwood and Ruth E. Carter on clothing inspired by movies and vice versa—was held to raise money for the Entertainment Community Fund, especially those wardrobe professionals impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. But it also shone a spotlight on the state of California’s film industry: Paramount Studios is the last operating studio physically located in Hollywood, while many productions have been lured out of the Golden State by tax credits.
And what a bright light it was. Dakota Johnson, Hailey Bieber, and Miley Cyrus sat in the crowd, as did Demi Lovato and Maude Apatow. Nicole Kidman opened the show followed by Kendall Jenner, who strutted down the runway-slash-set designed by Jess Gonchor who worked on Little Women and The Devil Wears Prada. Anok Yai wore a look inspired by Edward Scissorhands while Teyana Taylor had on an outfit from Carter’s The Black Panther. To paraphrase one of the most famous lines in history… they were ready for their closeups. (The makeup by Dame Pat McGarth certainly helped.)
It’s been, and will be, a busy few weeks in Los Angeles. On Saturday, October 18, it felt like every famous living actor attended the Academy Award Gala and the Armani after-party at the Chateau Marmont. Meanwhile on November 2, Gucci will host the LACMA Gala. And Vogue World was smack dab in the middle of it all.

Malle will be taking over the role historically held by Anna Wintour, after her exit in June
Effective immediately, Chloe Malle has been named the new head of editorial content at U.S. Vogue, leading the creative and editorial direction of the publication. Malle will join the ranks of Vogue’s 10 existing Heads of Editorial Content around the globe, all reporting to Anna Wintour.
The news was announced via a Vogue.com article on Tuesday, which included a full statement from Wintour herself. “Fashion is the art of embracing change, but some changes run closer to one’s heart than the rest. When it came to hiring someone to edit American Vogue…I knew I had one chance to get it right. I’m thrilled to announce that Chloe Malle will be the next Head of Editorial Content for our US title, leading the American magazine and guiding its digital coverage.”
The announcement also included a statement from Malle herself, saying “Fashion and media are both evolving at breakneck speed, and I am so thrilled—and awed—to be part of that. I also feel incredibly fortunate to still have Anna just down the hall as my mentor.”
According to Malle’s LinkedIn account, she attended Brown University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in literary arts and comparative literature in 2008. Malle first began her career at Vogue in 2011 as social editor. She has stayed with the publication ever since, currently holding the role of Vogue.com editor and co-hosting the publication’s fashion podcast, The Run-Through. Malle’s writing has also appeared in other publications like WWD, The New York Times, and Architectural Digest.
“Chloe has long been one of Vogue’s secret weapons when it comes to tracking fashion…like the best designers, she understands fashion’s big picture, its role shaping not just what’s on the runway but the changing fabric of modern life,” said Wintour. “Chloe has put in as many late nights as anybody at Condé Nast, all without losing her creative imagination or her sense of fun.”
Wintour announced her intended departure from the role of Editor-in-Chief at U.S. Vogue in late June, a position she held for 37 years. She will continue at the company in a senior position as chief content officer of Vogue and Condé Nast.

Google (GOOGL) has struck a rare partnership with California to support journalism across the state. The first-in-the-nation agreement, announced yesterday (Aug. 21), will see the Big Tech player invest around $170 million over the next five years to strengthen a struggling local media landscape and aid in experimentation with A.I. However, the seemingly well-intentioned deal met controversy from media industry members.
The deal comes as lawmakers push for Big Tech companies to compensate news organizations. In recent decades, news organizations have suffered from dwindling ad revenue as advertisers and readers transition away from print to social media platforms and search engines. The journalism industry in the U.S. has lost nearly two-thirds of its reporters since 2005, according to a 2023 study from Northwestern University. Each week, two and a half local newspapers closed down, the study found.
Under the new agreement, a total of $250 million in public and private funding will be funneled into initiatives encouraging the local sustainability of outlets. “This agreement represents a major breakthrough in ensuring the survival of newsrooms and bolstering local journalism across California—leveraging substantial tech industry resources without imposing new taxes on Californians,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom in a statement.
In addition to continuing to dole out annual grants of $10 million to existing journalism programs it supports, Google will give $55 million over the next five years to a new fund that will be administered by the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. Known as the News Transformation Fund, it will distribute funding across California publications and emphasize underrepresented groups and news deserts.
The search engine giant is also expected to pour $12.5 million each year into a new National A.I. Innovation Accelerator, a program that will be administered with a private nonprofit and provide resources to experiment with A.I. across a variety of industries. Both of the agreement’s initiatives are expected to go live in 2025. “California lawmakers have worked with the tech and news sectors to develop a collaborative framework to accelerate A.I. innovation and support local and national businesses and non-profit organizations,” said Kent Walker, chief legal officer for Google’s parent company Alphabet (GOOGL), in a statement.
Google has previously fought more comprehensive proposals in California urging Big Tech companies to support news outlets. In response to a proposed bill that would have seen Google forced to pay outlets for surfacing their content, the company earlier this year described the solution as the “wrong approach to supporting journalism” and one that would lead to “uncapped financial exposure,” with the company even temporarily removing links to California news outlets from its search engine.
Not everyone is pleased with the new agreement. The Media Guild of the West, which represents journalists across Southern California, described the partnership as an “undemocratic and secretive deal with one of the businesses destroying our industry” in a statement. In addition to taking issue with Google’s financial commitment, it described the A.I. accelerator project as embracing an initiative “that could very well destroy journalism jobs.”
The threat of A.I. has been a key worry in recent years for news outlets concerned about its misuse of content and potential to replace jobs. A.I. companies have attempted to dissuade such fears by entering into partnerships with media companies, such as those struck between OpenAI and brands like Vogue, Time Magazine and The Wall Street Journal that see the startup compensate outlets in order to use their content in A.I. tools and to train models. Perplexity AI, an A.I.-powered search engine, also recently launched a revenue-sharing model that will offer publishing partners a portion of ad revenue when their material is used in its A.I. tool’s responses.

There are few movies that are deemed instantaneous classics. Comfort films that sink into your soul from the moment you first watch them in the theater and resonate for decades in your memory bank. For many, that movie is the Y2k 2006 hit: The Devil Wears Prada.
It had all the makings of a classic: a gorgeous, star-studded cast some of whom had yet to reach the apex of their careers, quip-worthy lines that are still quoted to this day, and then there are all those delicious, catty jabs at
Vogue.
The star-studded cast in question?
Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, the semi-clueless journalism school grad who landed a job at Runway Magazine as an assistant to the widely feared and highly regarded Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep.)
If you somehow live under a rock and haven’t seen the film or read Lauren Weisberger’s wonderful novel, it’s a satire about work-life balance and the lengths we’ll go to for success. And, of course, Meryl Streep’s Priestly is based on
Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour.
With an equally stacked supporting cast in Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci,
The Devil Wears Prada is often quoted and replayed. Sarcastic quips from Streep’s character like “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” or “What you don’t know is your sweater is not blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s cerulean.”
And while I could go on and on about how iconic specifically Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Wintour is, that’s not why I’ve gathered you here today. I actually have good news:
The Devil Wears Prada has been renewed for a sequel– and yes, Streep, Hathaway, Tucci, and Blunt are all in talks about returning.
While nothing’s confirmed just yet,
Entertainment Weekly just got word that both Blunt and Streep are in talks to star in a film with a storyline concerned with the death of print media in more recent years.
Although Disney declined to comment,
EW reports that most of the original cast, director, and producers are discussing a reunion. Which is quite possibly the best news, since no one else can play Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs but Streep and Hathaway.
In past years, multiple members of the cast have mulled over the idea of a sequel..but struggled to imagine a world where
The Devil Wears Prada can exist side-by-side rapidly vanishing world of printed fashion magazines.
However, there’s a plethora of possibilities in the fashion journalism community– simply take a few notes from
Vogue!

Oh, Olivia Culpo. How I wanted to pore over your wedding content in the deepest of green envy. You had it all: the hot football player husband, the equally It-Girl sisters, the star attendees. You could’ve had a
Sofia Richie moment, and instead we’re here.
On June 29, 2024, Miss Universe and model
Olivia Culpo and star running back for the San Francisco 49ers Christian McCaffrey invited their A-List friends to Watch Hill, Rhode Island for what was supposed to be the most spectacular wedding of the year.
As pictures slowly leaked – and with
Vogue onsite for full access – the Culpo-McCaffrey union had potential to be the Pinterest wedding of your dreams. Everyone wanted to see the bride. Olivia Culpo has become a true style icon for her throngs of followers – regularly posting TikToks getting ready for McCaffrey’s games throwing on “cool girl” outfits.
So when her army of umbrellas fell and the world saw her first wedding dress…everyone was left with the same reaction:
that’s it???!!!
Surely, this must’ve been a ruse. No way would
the Olivia Culpo be dressed in a full-coverage, long-sleeve, high-neck Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown. No, there had to be something else and the public wasn’t allowed to take a glimpse yet.
But, actually, that dress
was chosen by Culpo as the dress of her dreams. And although she had three dresses in total (yes, all equally tacky or underwhelming for different reasons), social media full-on exploded. And Culpo and McCaffrey have made things exponentially worse.

Well, there isn’t just one issue at hand. The first is the dress itself: are we serious? Dolce & Gabbana is
not the luxury brand I’d turn to for modern conservatism.
First and foremost,
Dolce & Gabbana isn’t exactly free of controversy. If you want the people to take you seriously, maybe don’t choose the brand that Elton John called to be canceled in 2015 for making comments against gay parenting.
It’s the middle of summer. If I’m getting married on the East Coast at the end of June, I’m going to be in something strapless. You bet your bottom dollar I’m showing a bit of clavicle. Because it’s
hot and I don’t want to be miserable.
But for Culpo, that was the whole point. And misery loves company it seems. You see, Olivia Culpo defended the dress by saying she didn’t want to “exude sex in any way, shape, or form.” She believes your wedding dress should be “serious” enough to match your “commitment.”
“When I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments that he thinks that I’m most beautiful, it’s absolutely in something like this: timeless, covered, and elegant.
And isn’t there something so
Handmaid’s Tale about wanting to be covered for your husband? I genuinely thought we were past this point in life. But hey, back to the 1950s we go!
Even more ironic is that, for the reception, Culpo changes into (essentially) a bodysuit with a mesh bubble wrapped around her waist. When stylist Kennedy Bingham made a viral TikTok response to Culpo’s fashion choices, Culpo got angry. And so did McCaffrey.
@voguemagazine *Adds #OliviaCulpo’s wedding after-party mini to our moodboard.* Head to vogue.com to see all of her custom #dolcegabbana ♬ original sound – Vogue
From Culpo: “Wow what an absolutely evil person you are. I hope no one ever tears you apart in this way because it’s extremely hurtful. I love this dress and it was everything I wanted and more.”
From McCaffrey: “What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does.”
I think “evil” may be two public figures name-calling a content creator for speaking the truth about the public’s opinion…but hey! Who am I to judge?
(I say seething with judgment.)
But Kennedy Bingham ruffled one too many feathers for Culpo and her court, it seems. Not only does Culpo berate Bingham for her evil acts, but she goes on to say that millions of people wear Dolce…she’s not the only one!
And while that may be a redeeming quality for Dolce in Culpo’s eyes, Bingham was quick to point out otherwise:
“They are not just a designer to you, they are a coworker … I’m also not saying YOU’RE anything. I’m saying that your actions allude to a certain mindset that you aren’t doing anything to contradict.”
And one more solid point that Bingham presents Culpo’s emphasis on her natural makeup look. Yes, she makes the brave move of skipping out on mascara (but is wearing a full set of lashes) and ditches the lip liner (a dose of filler will do instead) for a more “natural” look.
I will hold for stifled laughter and eye rolls. Yes, the former Miss Universe who is no stranger to Botox and filler wanted you to focus on
natural beauty. And look, I’m not saying she’s ugly by any means or needs any further work done…but when you’re preaching natural beauty and realness, please save it.
If you want Botox, get Botox. If you want to wear a parka to your wedding in the middle of the summer, do it. If you want to wear a full beat to your wedding, do it. If you want to wear a bikini, wear a bikini.
But
don’t sell false beauty standards and harp on conserving your sexuality for your groom and then make it our problem when people disagree.

Oh, Kim Kardashian. How you make it so difficult to defend you at times. Look, I even understood why you wore the iconic Marilyn dress to the Met Gala. I called you a visionary.
When it was announced that Kim Kardashian would star alongside Emma Roberts in Ryan Murphy’s
American Horror Story: Delicate, the world was a bit confused. That Kim K? Reality TV star turned influencer and fashion mogul, who became famous not for her talent but for her incessant drama…on a RYAN MURPHY SHOW?
But I kept my worries to myself, unlike the entire internet that was ripping her apart
before we saw her acting debut. Anyways. I tuned in week after week to watch Murphy’s Rosemary’s Baby-inspired show…and you know what? Kim is not the worst part about it.
Because the main thing you must remember is you can only enjoy this kind of production is to keep front and center of your mind that Kim is not an actress. She didn’t come into the public eye hoping to be the next Marilyn Monroe in terms of blockbuster movie deals. She’s a hustler — meaning she won’t turn down an opportunity to level-up financially.
If you weren’t already aware , Kim’s own reality show has been running for over 20 seasons between E!’s
Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Hulu’s The Kardashians. And every week on the show, we catch a glamorous glimpse into the life of Kim Kardashian and her famous family.
This past week, Ryan Murphy sat down with Kim and asked how she felt about a scripted show where she was the main stellar event. Yes, you read that right. Ryan Murphy approached Kim Kardashian to
continue her acting career.
And if you’re in shock…you must remember her iconic quote:
I told you earlier that Kim is a hustler…but maybe you don’t believe me. Let’s look at the facts: whether you’re a Taylor Swift-supporter who vehemently despises the Kardashians or not, Kim has a similar work ethic to Taylor Swift — they do not stop, darlin.
Kim currently has two brands: SKKN, her skincare and beauty line, and Skims, the leading shapewear and loungewear brand in the industry. As previously mentioned, she stars on The Kardashians alongside her mother and sisters: Kris, Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney, and Khloe.
Then there’s her stint in the fashion industry — an ambassador for controversial brand Balenciaga, constantly seen front row at Fashion Week sitting next to
Vogue Editor-in-Chief, the highly-regarded and highly-feared Anna Wintour.
And there’s no doubt that we’re dealing with one of the most
criticized families in America. They’re the closest thing we’ve got to our own Royal Family, and thousands flock to social media to denounce their promotion of tatty products and unrealistic body expectations.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone when Kim Kardashian dips her toe into a new profession. She’s already checked reality TV star, lawyer, entrepreneur, mother, and model off her list…why is acting so shocking?
@gaymanwithaspraytan #greenscreen #kimkardashian #thekardashians #kardashians #ahs ♬ original sound – Gay Man with a Spray Tan
So here we are, in the “acceptance” phase of grief. Kim Kardashian will be starring in Ryan Murphy’s show (again) so you may as well get to know the plot. The show, which is currently untitled, will follow Kim as Los Angeles’ most successful divorce lawyer leading an all-female team.
While the role seems perfect for Kardashian — her father was a famous superpower litigant and she’s in law school herself…Murphy has been drawing together something of a dream-team cast to support her. That includes a glam bevy of A-list actresses who will be Kim’s team of lawyers. And….there’s even a love interest.
And I’m sure we’re all thinking the same thing:
but she can’t really act, can she? No. But neither can most nepo babies out there…and yet, we let them.
We’re living in a culture where the contrarian point of view is all that claims our attention. Being a hater is cool. And yet, I find myself empathizing with the Kar-Jenner clan. Wouldn’t you also grasp at straws to continue your legacy of influence and riches?
If you truly look deep inside, you may realize that we’d do it too if it meant a big fat paycheck…we simple folk simply don’t get those opportunities.

It was an era-defining moment when departing Vogue UK editor Edward Enninful gathered together 40 of the most famous faces to have graced the cover of his magazine for a farewell group shot.
Famous faces on the March 2024 issue include veterans Oprah Winfrey and Jane Fonda, supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista, actresses Jodie Comer, Anya Taylor-Joy and tennis star Serena Williams.
The Daily Mail reports that the photoshoot was done at Highline Stages in New York’s Meatpacking District, in early December 2023.
One star noticeable by her absence was Nicole Kidman, who – it transpires – was unable to attend because the end of the writers’ strike meant she had to return to filming duty on her next project, Birthday Girl.
Questions were also raised over the absence of Meghan Markle, who joined forces with Enninful back in September 2019 to guest-edit an issue of the magazine. The reason given was that only those stars who have previously been on the cover were included.
One insider told the Daily Mail the logistics involved in bringing together such a celebrated flock were similar to “almost as much planning as D-Day.” Miley Cyrus was one famous face who went the extra mile to be involved, flying 5,000 miles by private jet to New York, to have her photograph taken for 15 minutes.
Enninful was appointed editor-in-chief of British Vogue in 2017 but stepped down after a short tenure in 2023. He is quoted in the Daily Mail reflecting: “I never expected all 40 to turn up.”

Things got weird at a Madonna concert on Tuesday night when a man dressed as Santa Clause got a lap dance while onstage with the “Like A Virgin” singer. The Santa figure then fell off his chair and onto the backup dancer who had been performing the lap dance.
Daily Mail reported that video that has since gone viral shows Madonna performing onstage with a person dressed as Santa on Tuesday night during her Celebration tour stop in Washington D.C. Santa sat in a chair in the middle of the stage while the 65 year-old “Vogue” singer performed nearby.
Santa was eventually approached by a female backup dance who claimed onto his lap and proceeded to give him a lap dance. Both Santa and the dancer soon fell out of the chair, with him ending up on top of her as Madonna looked on in shock. The dancer immediately returned to dancing while Santa tried to compose himself and get up.
This came days after Madonna revealed that she was in a medically induced coma for 48 hours back in June when she was hospitalized with a bacterial infection. She dropped this bomb during another tour stop in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night, giving a personal shoutout to her friend Shavawn.
“There are some very important people in the room tonight that were with me at the hospital,” Madonna said. “There’s one very important woman who dragged me to the hospital.”
“I don’t even remember; I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU,” she added. “I was in an induced coma for 48 hours. She saved my life. Thank you Shavawn.”
People Magazine went on to reveal the first things she thought about when she finally came out of the coma.
“There were a couple of things I thought about when I first became conscious and I saw my six incredible children sitting around me — by the way, I had to almost die to get all my kids in one room,” she said, referring to Lourdes, 27, Rocco, 23, David Banda, 18, Mercy James, 17, and 11-year-old twins Estere and Stella.

Two weeks after her hospitalization, Madonna took to social media to thank her fans for their support.
“I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” she wrote on Instagram.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” she continued. “My second thought was that I did not want to disappointment anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”

We all have a hill that we’ll gladly die on. My roommate routinely goes on tirades about how no movie should be over 90 minutes (sorry, Scorcese). A lot of people on the internet are currently committed to the hill (read: conspiracy theory) that Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet are a PR stunt engineered by Kris.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it over and over for the rest of my life: mine is that the Kim and Kanye Vogue cover of September 2014 caused a major vibe shift.
This, to me, is the first cultural domino to fall and we’re still living in its aftermath. It’s the hill I hope they bury me on. So let me explain.
The September issue of Vogue is a big deal. It’s an extra thick, extra coveted issue because it’s usually the highest circulation month and advertisers literally fight — and bribe — for their spots in it. So do models, celebrities, and brands. Therefore, the unveiling of the September cover is always a big deal. In 2014, Vogue took a giant gamble: putting Kim and Kanye on the cover to celebrate their wedding.
These days, a Kim K cover would be a no-brainer — she was just GQ’s Man of the Year, for example, and posed on the cover with a bag of Cheetos — and a Kanye cover would be unfathomable — he’s in Wyoming somewhere, canceled. But in 2014, Kanye was a certified rap royalty and Kim Kardashian was still only known for her reality show and penchant for bandage dresses.
Almost a decade ago now (do you feel old yet?), the cultural landscape was completely different. Rap music, for example, had been popular for years but was only just going from a fringe genre to a welcomed part of the mainstream. So, although Kanye was a household name, he was a surprising choice for the cover. His fashion foray, Yeezy, was still getting its sea legs and not yet the giant it would become. And as for Kim? She was pretty much a joke.
But this Vogue cover changed it all. People were outraged— saying Vogue had lost the plot and that it was going downhill — but Anna Wintour stuck to her guns. She took a risk, made a bet that KimYe would be fashion’s next hottest couple, and, against all odds, she was right.
After that cover, fashion changed. So did culture itself. Slowly but surely, we entered the streetwear and hypebeast era. Ruled by sneakers and sweatsuits, this era embraced a hip-hop-inspired take on fashion that contrasted with the business-casual attire of the late 2000s and the millennial hipster chic of the early 2010s. Supreme became the hottest brand on the market. Sweatpants became acceptable club attire. And meanwhile, KimYe was proving Anna Wintour right one Yeezy ensemble at a time.
Anna’s gamble also foreshadowed how intertwined fashion would become with celebrity culture. These days, front rows of fashion shows are filled with actors, singers, and internet personalities over editors and industry vets. Budding industry darlings make names for themselves by becoming “fashion girls” and partnering with brands like Loewe, Schiaparelli, and Jacquemus. Even Kylie Jenner just launched a fashion line — maybe we’ll see her grace the cover of Vogue next.
But now, Anna has taken yet another risk.
Out of nowhere, just days ago, Vogue Magazine posted a very surprising pair on social media: Amazon billionaire CEO Jeff Bezos and his new wife Lauren Sanchez.
The write-up was even weirder. From comparing Bezos to Iron Man (he wishes) to revealing that Lauren once outbid Kim Kardashian on a dress for $200,000… this Vogue spread felt like a paid advertisement for Jeff Bezos’s mid-life crisis. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when hot girls have post-divorce revenge eras — like Em Rata or even Jeremy Allen White — but Jeff Bezos? We can’t give him the validation.
And I’m not alone in thinking this. Vogue readers were fuming. Just check the comment section or the TikTok video essays. In the court of public opinion, billionaire Bezos is not winning. Some readers asked how much Bezos was shelling out for this profile, while others pointed out that Mackenzie Scott, his ex-wife who has committed to donating her fortune, would have been a better feature.
But I can’t help but wonder: what does Anna Wintour know? Could another vibe shift be imminent? Now that we’re used to seeing celebrities leverage fashion in service of their fashion brand, will we be seeing tech moguls and billionaires do the same? Next thing you know, Elon Musk will be the face of Balenciaga and all the tech kingpins will stop trying to go to space and instead try to score invites to the Met Gala and Vogue World.
If that’s where all this is headed, it’s looking pretty bleak. Not to undermine Anna’s judgment, but in this scenario, I hope she’s wrong.

Nicki Minaj is posing with her beary-cute precious prince for Vogue while reflecting on her forthcoming fifth album and misconceptions that she’s “mean.”
Source: Norman Jean Roy / Vogue
For the publication’s December cover story, Minaj, 40, did a wide-ranging interview on several topics including the process of writing, recording, mixing, and re-mixing Pink Friday ahead of its December 8 release.
Not only that, she also opened up about motherhood, marriage, and false narratives about her attitude.
Source: Norman Jean Roy / Vogue
According to Onika, she is not “mean” as some people have alleged her to be, because that’s not who she is at her core. Instead, the rapper admits that she can have passing “b***” moments.
“When I hear the word mean, I think about the core of who the person is,” said Minaj. “I always tell people that the difference between being mean and being a b*** is that b*** passes. B**** comes and goes. Mean is who you are. I could be the biggest b***, at the height of my b***-ness, but if the person I may be cussing out at that time needs something from me, I’m going to give it to them. I have to be able to look in the mirror and be okay with myself.”
She also went on to emphasize that further while filming the famed “73 Questions with Vogue.”
“What is the biggest misconception about you?” she was asked.
“That I’m mean,” Minaj answered.
Source: Norman Jean Roy / Vogue
On marriage:
“Because I’ve known my husband for so long, there’s an ease we have with each other,” she explains. “We make each other laugh. We’re silly. And we’re always reminiscing about some old story. If it was a guy that I met as Nicki Minaj, I think I’d feel like they liked me because I’m Nicki Minaj, and what if I don’t look like Nicki Minaj every day? And that, combined with pregnancy, would probably have made me crazy.”
Marriage and motherhood promised to be escapes, after all, from Nicki Minaj the brand.
“I think that deep down inside, I believed that once I had a family, I would just lose the desire to make music,” she says. “I would always tell people, ‘Watch, when I have a child I’m going to cook every meal for him and bake cookies every day.’ Maybe subconsciously I hoped my focus would just be on being a mother, and I looked forward to that idea. It felt like a relief. But what happens is that you find out you have to work.”
On motherhood and the stress it put on her marriage:
Minaj has not publicly revealed the name of her son, whom she prefers to call Papa Bear. She and Petty navigated his infancy with no help whatsoever save for an occasional brief visit from a grandparent. She never felt so exhausted in her life, even on her three world tours. She remembers the atmosphere of commiseration that pervaded her marriage at the time.
“I’m not going to lie, things got testy between us,” she recalls. “Because of our history, I think we knew we’d get past it. But there’s no such thing as confidence in parenthood. I kind of wish that someone had told me—although I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to understand it—that there’s a level of anxiety, and you think it’s going to go away, but in fact it gets scarier. So often you think: I don’t know how to do this!”
On mom guilt:
“Well, if I’m going to have mom guilt regardless, I might as well continue doing the only thing I know how to freaking do, which is make music.”

On body positivity:
“I just looked at a video that I posted on Instagram when I was 25, and I would f****g pay to look like that right now,” she says. “But today I can say that I’m at peace with who I am and how I look. I have to say this as a Black woman, though. I’ve made certain choices for my son, to not give him sweets and candy and juices, because of illnesses like diabetes that run in our community. I’m not in favor of body positivity if it means unhealthy bodies. That’s bull. It’s not believable, so let’s stop pretending.
Recently I had to get a breast reduction, and actually I love it. I used to want a bigger butt, and now I look back and realize how silly that was. So—love your curves, and love your non-curves. There’s nothing wrong with any of it.”

Every year, on the first Monday in May, comes the most exclusive party of the year: The Met Gala.
VogueEditor-In-Chief Anna Wintour hand-picks the creme-de-la-creme of the highest profile celebs — a coveted who’s who list of exciting new names and A-listers alike. Together, these celebs congregate at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art donning (literally) their Monday best.
On the surface,
the Met Gala is a fundraising event hosted by Vogue to raise funds for the Met Museum’s Costume Institute. You have to be invited to attend (normally by a brand or by Anna herself), and what goes on inside the elusive Met Gala is one of fashion’s best-kept secrets. What happens at the Gala, truly stays at the Gala.
@metmuseum DYK: When garments enter The Met collection, they can no longer be worn on the human body. So how can we understand the movement and energy of these masterpieces of fashion? This May, explore 250 pieces from The Met’s Costume Institute collection in “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” opening to the public on May 10 and celebrated at the 2024 Met Gala on May 6. Join us to see them spring to life. 🌿 🌸 🌊 #ReawakeningFashion #TheMetGala ♬ original sound – The Met
Today, the buzz around the 2024 Met Gala officially begins with the announcement of the theme: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. And, like with
any Met Gala theme, this needs a bit of explanation.
In collaboration with the Costume Institute, every Met Gala also comes with an exhibit at the Met that’s curated to emulate the year’s theme. This year, 250 rare items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection will be featured — including designs from Schiaparelli, Dior, and Givenchy.
“Sleeping beauties” refers to the pieces that are so rare that they can only be worn once. Some of these “sleeping beauty” gowns, like an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth gown, will be shown via CGI and AI virtual showcasing.
It’s an all-encompassing theme spanning over 400 years of fashion. The exhibit itself will have three “zones” dedicated to land, sea, and sky, according to Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in charge of the Costume Institute.
While your mind may have gone straight to Disney’s
Sleeping Beauty, the Met Gala is going to be leaning heavy into how fashion and nature coincide. These pieces on display have been sitting in the Met’s collection for eons, some can’t even be hung upright or they’ll disintegrate.
Since many of these clothing artifacts were made with natural materials (like a bodice made from peas in a pod), you will expect to see this mimicked in attendees’ attire. Sure, there will be 1800s-inspired gowns and lace appliques…but remember: nature is emphasized.
People are thinking of florals and birds, as the exhibit will feature both a black tulle dress embroidered with blackbirds and an Alexander McQueen jacket inspired by Alfred Hitchcocks’
The Birds. But everything nature has to offer — nothing’s off the table! We might see snakes and leaves and everything in between.
And while we don’t know the hosts, or the guests, quite yet…we’re looking forward to this theme and hope we can reawaken the excitement of the Met Gala after some lackluster showings in the past few years.

When you think of the Kardashian fashion, your mind may wander to the color black. Seriously, whenever I throw on an all black fit, I say I feel like a Kardashian. When a family’s style makes you think of them when you wear a color, you could assume they’re pretty powerful in the fashion world.
And the Kar-Jenners have been dictating trends whether we like it or not. Kim Kardashian’s Skims is constantly innovating a new path in the world of underwear. Skim recently became the official partner of the NBA and WNBA, and, more importantly, unveiled their new, viral “Nipple Bra. You can’t beat Kar-Marketing. And don’t forget that Khloe is the face of Good American — an all-inclusive denim brand changing the stigma behind denim sizing.
Kylie is currently known for Kylie Cosmetics, the brand that brought us the lip kit and a gimmicky skincare line, Kylie Skin. But King Kylie is not done yet, after debuting her own leather jacket at Paris Fashion Week, we should’ve known something was in the works. The Kar-Jenners never seem to do anything by accident anymore. Kris Jenner works way too hard for that. So it should be no surprise that, unbeknownst to us, Kylie was debuting her new clothing brand before our eyes.
Khy blends luxury fashion with cutting edge everyday style, promising us faux leather and base options to give us the closet of our dreams. The name stems from Jenner’s trips to Paris, where she tried to stay undercover by telling bartenders her name was “Khy.” Unfortunately, my name is already a letter so I can’t afford the same luxury of shortening…but I digress.
Khy is scheduled to be released in regular drops and Drop 001 is a 12-piece collab with Berlin-based NAMILIA.
With a surprisingly affordable price range of $48-$198 and sizing from XXS-4X, I’m pleased that Kylie is giving the people what they want. It’s both affordable and fashionable — plus no animals were harmed in the creation of this jacket.
We saw Kylie celebrating the launch of Khy alongside sister Kendall Jenner and fellow friend and fashion icon, Hailey Bieber. Then, not long after, Kylie celebrated with a Khy birthday party.
For a devout member of the fashion community, Kylie Jenner has the opportunity to reach Skims-level of success, if she does it right. And honestly, I’m kind of living for the first drop?
While some of you may cringe at the price of a $48 cropped baby tee, I’m impressed. Kylie is shooting for runway-ready looks that mirror the format of high fashion houses we love like Loewe, Gucci, Prada, and more…and the all black theme fits the Kar-Jenner way.
If you want to shop the KHY Drop 001, here are some of the surefire hits (with quality and everything else taken into consideration):
KHY
Material: 90% Nylon, 10% Spandex
Comparable Skims Product: Recycled Nylon T-Shirt, 78% Nylon, 22% Spandex
Why We Want It: This is guaranteed to feel comfortable, suck you in, and give you the Kylie Jenner streetwear base. Dress it up, wear the pieces on their own or together, and it’s on the more affordable side of athleisure.
KHY
Material: 100% PU leather, 100% polyester lining
Comparable Skims Product: Faux Leather Bootcut Pant, 100% PU
Why We Want It: The dress we’ve seen Khy herself in, it’s the perfect statement dress for many occasions. Under $100, this structured leather number is a go-to in your closet.
While you may not think you need a leather jacket or another pair of black leggings, Kylie Jenner is proving that structure and quality of clothing is equally as important as the overall style. Sure you can have a million black leggings, but there are definitely standouts in your collection…we all know there are better brands than others.
I like that these items look luxurious, but don’t cost my entire paycheck. The Leather Trench is innovative in its own sense: customizable slits thanks to moto-style zippers, a slightly oversized look with a cinchable waist. The goal is to give you staple closet items (a la the leggings and baby tee) and then other elements of timeless statement pieces, and it does just that.

The date has been marked on the calendar for months, and fashion’s biggest night is finally here: The 2023 Met Gala carpet unfurls on May 1, and we have everything you need to watch the stars make their way up The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s landmark steps live. You’ll be able to find the official Vogue live stream right here on Vanity Fair, broadcasting the festivities throughout the night.

This year’s Met Gala celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute’s exhibit “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Attendees have been informed that the dress code is “in honor of Karl,” which opens a world of possibilities, from wearing one of the many labels to which the late designer lent his talents throughout his long career—Chanel, Chloé, Fendi, and his eponymous lines, among many others—to even paying homage to Lagerfeld’s signature dark sunglasses.
Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour are the cochairs of the 2023 Met Gala. Join Vanity Fair as we take you into the exclusive party with live streams and coverage throughout the event.

Last week, the fashion world was taken by surprise as Law Roach noisily retired from styling. The famed stylist is known for saving the fashion careers of many celebrities, pulling them out of tone-deaf, trendless outfits and into the world of serving absolute looks. If you’ve loved what a celeb is wearing, Law Roach probably styled them.
He’s the wizard who turned Zendaya into Cinderella for the Met Gala (
who also styles her boyfriend, Tom Holland), he’s the maven who re-branded Celine Dion’s style. But the fashion industry is both cutthroat and rarely without drama. Law took to Instagram to announce he was retiring for good, and that the industry had seemingly “won.”
But retirement can mean so many things. Tom Brady has retired from football twice now. So it’s safe to say that people have questions when it comes to Law Roach’s sudden retirement post.
People love giving credit where credit is due – and as such, stylists have their very own fan bases.
The Guardian likens this phenomenon to Rachel Zoe’s Zoe Bots, which spawned her own spinoff show and fame in her own right, and not just for styling Lindsay Lohan.
This just means Law Roach will be fine if he’s not styling everyone anymore – he’ll be sitting on a million Instagram followers and a networking catalog that most would kill for. He has some of the biggest names in Hollywood behind him like Zendaya herself. In other words, Law Roach probably isn’t going anywhere.
The dramatic, shady Insta post wasn’t Law stepping away from fashion altogether, as he told
Vogue. And it most definitely isn’t due to the fact that Zendaya didn’t save him a front-row seat at Fashion Week this year – or that he asked Emma Stone to give up hers. Law Roach is taking his career into his own hands, far away from “the politics, the lies, and false narratives” that Roach credits for his retirement from celebrity styling.
Law Roach told
AP,
“I just wanna breathe. I wanna fly. I wanna be happy,” Roach said. “I wanna figure other things out.”
His looks have been seen on Anne Hathaway, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ariana Grande, and Bella Hadid. Law has created a multi-million dollar empire styling clients for photoshoots and red carpet appearances, while collaborating with some of the biggest fashion houses in the world.
This year’s Oscars showcased Megan Thee Stallion, Hunter Schafer, Kerry Washington, Eve Jobs, and Hailee Steinfeld, all dressed by Roach. Most of which ranked as the most talked about looks of the evening – so who’s going to style them now?
Law Roach and Zendaya at the Met Gala 2019

And while each and every look was a slay and a serve in their own respect, no two looks were similar. In fact, each look was praised in their own ways, for different reasons. It’s something Law Roach talks about with The Cut.
“It’s always the narrative of, “Oh, he’s never gonna treat you the way he treats Zendaya. You’re gonna get what she doesn’t want.” And that’s not true, because none of my clients ever look the same. Like, I don’t use edits.
I don’t walk around with suitcases of edits that Zendaya didn’t want and offer ’em to other people. It’s always those narratives, and I’ve lost a bunch of clients that I really care for and really wanted to work with because of the gatekeepers.”
Law even styled Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, who told People that a stylist (seemingly Roach) informed her she wasn’t “sample sized.” While Law Roach told The Cut that this conversation didn’t happen in the way she framed it, it was an example of the false narratives he cited in his retirement.
More recently, Roach was spotted making his modeling debut for Boss. Law Roach strutted the runway in good company amongst Pamela Anderson, Naomi Campbell, and Precious Lee. He told Vogue,
“I don’t think I have any challenges. I’m a fucking diva! Even if they were to put me on a 10-inch high heel I would be walking that runway. The little gay boy in me—I’m living out a dream! The hair, the makeup, the look they chose for me: it’s literally a dream!”

I advertise skincare to everyone I meet, because who doesn’t want to stay as effervescent and youthful looking as possible? Not only can you get rid of the texture, redness, and acne we all deal with…but you literally can delay the aging process. If I only do one thing daily to take care of myself, it’s going to be my skincare routine.
My toughest crowd, however, has been men. While we all have skin, which needs care just like the inside of our bodies do, I have yet to meet many men who have figured out a skincare routine for themselves.
Maybe it’s because of masculinity. The patriarchy, at it again! Since the beauty industry is catered towards women, it’s an impossible task to break through and convince men that these pots of fragranced creams and tubes of scented gels are worth smearing on your face twice a day. But I’m here to change all that.
I’m of the firm belief that everyone can benefit from makeup and skincare – not just women. We all wake up, look in the mirror, and think we look a little tired…or see a new pimple on the horizon and want to eliminate it immediately from our faces. So what’s the harm with dabbing a bit of makeup to make us look – and feel – immensely better about our appearance? Nothing.
Your favorite male celebrities wear makeup daily. That’s right, even Tom Cruise is sporting concealer while doing all those stunts. And maybe even a layer of blush. Brad Pitt and Pharrell even have skincare brands of their own.
Niall Horan, judge on this season of The Voice and former member of One Direction, recently went on Vogue’s Beauty Secrets to share his 22-step beauty routine…and while I’m not saying every man needs a 22 step routine, his recommendations are a great foundation for any man.
He says it himself: “Look fab, feel fab.”
While walking us through his luxurious routine, Horan muses why more men don’t have a routine. “I think with men…we’re getting better at it! Everyone’s always kind of against the skincare thing and I don’t really know why. It’s like, do we give up some of our masculinity if we admit to using moisturizer?”
So if you’re looking to start a routine…or you’re looking to inspire your boyfriend, brother, friend, or family member…take it from Niall. Here are my favorite steps from his routine that anyone can follow!
CLEANSER: Sarah Chapman Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse
Of course Niall enjoys nothing but the best for his skin…and this Sarah Chapman Cleanser is no exception. With peptides and Vitamin A for anti-aging properties and Vitamin C for brightening, this cleanser gets deep in your pores to purify while removing makeup and impurities.
MASK: Make Beauty Micro Crystalline Exfoliating Face Mask
Exfoliation helps get dead skin cells off your face, giving you a moisturized, glowing surface. Niall recommends doing this a few times a week at least, crediting the Make Beauty Face Mask as his savior. A mask is easy to use, low maintenance, and not necessary for everyday…perfect for the male skincare routine.
EYE MASK: Jaxon Lane Bro Mask Eye Gels
Jaxon Lane makes skincare targeted towards men, and these Bro Mask Eye Gels make a routine feel easy. Bring these bad boys anywhere, wear them in the car on the way to work or put them on before you go out. They’ll de-puff and brighten up those tired under eyes.
MIST: Allies of Skin Molecular Saviour Probiotics Treatment
If you’re someone who doesn’t have the time for a routine, a mist will be your BFF. The Allies of Skin Mist is Niall’s favorite, and contains Niacinamide and Amino Acids to wake up your skin and restore its youthful bounce. It soothes redness and helps your hydration levels without you having to work hard at it.
SERUM: Osea Essential Hydrating Oil
Osea is known for their hydrating products, and this oil will be your best friend. With jojoba and macadamia oils, Osea has created the ultimate moisturizing oil that will reduce the appearance of fine lines while maintaining your skin’s elasticity. If you have one serum, make it this.
EYE CREAM: Ilia Bright Start Retinol Eye Cream
What I love about the Ilia Eye Cream is that it can be applied directly onto your face. You don’t have to dip your finger into a pot, and the metal applicator feels cooling on your under eyes. The retinol will aid with wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, and more over time.
SUNSCREEN: Jaxon Lane Rain Or Shine Sunscreen
Sunscreen may not seem important year round…but Niall Horan knows his Irish skin is sensitive even when you don’t necessarily see the sun. If you experience redness or irritation seemingly out of nowhere, chances are it’s the sun’s fault. Using sunscreen in the morning will help prevent damage and slows down the aging process. A necessity if I’ve ever heard one.

And if you’ve been paying attention, maybe you, too have been wondering what everyone packed for Paris FW, and who landed the likes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid on their runways. Regardless, Paris determines the ultimate trends of the upcoming seasons.
We cycle through so many decades of trends that it feels like we’re already back to romanticizing the 2010’s – something we escaped only a few years ago when it was still that decade. Look no further than the rise of chevron recently: both ominous and harrowing that we’re cycling so quickly.
However, this Paris Fashion Week gave me a bit of hope with all of the trends emerging. We aren’t going insane with huge pops of colors, but sticking to neutrals yet again. Camels, taupes, cocoas, and blacks will still dominate the colorways. But what else?
It’s time to talk about Paris. The future trends, the standout brands and the celebrity fashion that we love to chew apart with our friends in group chats.
The Trends, According To WWD
Balmain model
Gil-Gonzalez Alain/ABACA/Shutterstock
The world has fallen in love with a neutral palette, and it looks like it’ll stay that way moving forward. Fashion houses stuck with monochromatic moments, but Women’s Wear Daily notes that red is the pop of color brands like Balmain and Valentino chose.
Perhaps the best news received from the runway is that skirts are very much in. And lengths don’t matter at all. No longer does the micro-mini low-rise skirt dominate the market, maxis and midis have been invited back to the party. Which means there’s more of a variety in outfits varying from person-to-person.
One of the biggest messages from Paris Fashion Week 2023 is that we’re back to dressing to impress. Less of a focus on your classic oversized streetwear – looking polished and put together in tailored skirt sets is the move of the summer.
It’s back to the classics for our favorite brands. Designs are looking sleeker and elegant once again. There’s less of an avant-garde “wow” factor, but the simplicity speaks for itself. Almost everyone who attended Paris FW talked about a tailored look: suits, pinstripes, blazers, vests. The revival of the pencil skirt is among us, ladies.
According to Victoria Dartigues, merchandising director of fashion and accessories for Samaritaine Paris Pont-Neuf, almost every fashion line had an oversized fur coat of sorts. That’s right, femme fatale fashion is here and ready to rule 2023.
Let’s Talk About Loewe
Emily Ratajkowski for Loewe
Scott Garfitt/Invision/AP/Shutterstock
Women’s Wear Daily credits Loewe as being the It Girl of Paris Fashion Week this year.
“Victoria Dartigues, Samaritaine Paris Pont-Neuf’s merchandising director fashion and accessories, called it a “demonstration of pure beauty.” Many cited Jonathan Anderson’s inventive use of confetti cubes inside the Château de Vincennes as one of the best show sets of the week and the brand’s new tote was ticked off as a “must have” on many lists.”
The show itself nodded to fashion trends throughout the world: a wallpaper-esque stick-on sweater that could only be worn once was a major dig at the fast fashion world in which most people often only wear the garments one time before throwing them in the trash.
They played with visuals through fabrics like vacuum-molded leather to look like plastic and images of dresses on t-shirt dresses made of satin. The show was conducted in a brightly lit room, contrasting most fashion houses who prefer nighttime shows often shrouded in darkness for added drama and flare.
EmRata’s leaf shirt, for example, is all about playful textures and out-of-the-box thinking. It’s taking camp to a new level by playing with fabrics you already know and transforming them into something that almost makes you uncomfortable to look at.
All Eyes On The Front Row
Balenciaga’s show
Steve Wood/Shutterstock
The front row of these shows are always telling. It’s a conglomeration of highly regarded celebrities who are often representing the brand. Think Kylie Jenner with Schiaparelli and Anya Taylor-Joy with Dior.
In the wake of a monumental scandal, Balenciaga under Demna tried to pick up the pieces. Their show featured a runway without the famous Balenciaga logo emblazoned anywhere, and also without celebrities in the front row. While this collection was the favorite of few, its simplicity shows Demna’s message: fashion doesn’t need to be a show.

Ah, St. Patrick’s Day. A huge holiday for those who like to find excuses to ignore work and hit the pub. And there truly is no better way to celebrate the Irish than with a green beer.
Like those holidays that you aren’t obligated to spend with your family, I assume you’ve been scouring the internet for outfit inspo and planning which bar crawl to join. Because holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and the Fourth of July are for two things: friends and serving fits. There’s no harm in using St. Paddy’s as your way of showing you keep up with trends.
Shopping for your perfect green outfit shouldn’t be difficult this year, considering the most popular colors this spring are forest and kelly greens. Think Gigi Hadid pre-Jimmy Fallon taping in hooded hunter green Alexandre Vauthier Couture. Or Solange Knowles in Bottega Veneta green leather for the Matthieu Blazy show.
This means it’s fully acceptable to buy a green fit for St. Patrick’s Day without feeling guilty. Green is in, so you’re buying a trendy outfit to wear throughout the next few months. It’s a necessary pop of color in a time when neutrals have dominated the market.
According to Vogue, even green nails are trending with over 300 million views. Manicurists say green is highly requested by clients everywhere:
Billie Eilish
Broadimage/Shutterstock
“Green manicures are one of my most requested looks right now, and I’m using a lot of BioSculpture’s Free Lovin’, which is a deep green shade,” says manicurist Faye Dennis. “It’s super eye-catching, and my clients say how many compliments they receive.”
If you’re looking for a St. Patrick’s Day Outfit, or just looking to go green (wardrobe-wise, that is), here are my favorite green clothing items:
This spring, varsity jackets and bomber jackets alike will become extremely popular. Streetwear looks have remained triumphant for a few seasons, so the varsity jacket is the perfect outerwear staple for your closet. It can match almost anything in your wardrobe right now, and this dark green shade is right on trend.
The people love pockets. Which is why cargo pants are all the rage right now. Channel your inner Y2K pop punk princess with this pair from Free People. While this may not be the signature St. Paddy’s Day green, who cares? They’re stylish, comfortable, and won’t be a one hit wonder in your closet.
If you’re looking forward to the warmer weather, or just want to switch things up, a cargo mini skirt is the ultimate choice. Make Olivia Rodrigo proud and bring out the classic cropped baby tee and mini skirt look. While low-rise may make you uncomfortable, bodysuits or baggy t-shirts will also pair well with the skirt.
You can never go wrong with a baby tee. It’s a staple in any closet and this shade is perfect for the holiday. It also gives you that added color option for future outfits. I find it best paired with white bottoms or light-wash denim during the summer. It’s comfortable, casual, and able to be accessorized.
If you have a green button up, you’re set for St. Paddy’s. You can layer it with basics like a white tank and jeans styled to your liking, or you can wear it under a leather jacket with leather pants for a fully chic moment.
