Iko spoke with WTOP’s Mark Lewis about his experience on the show and what it was like seeing his favorite judges turn around during his performance.

What was going through your mind when Snoop Dog’s chair turned around on The Voice?
Kenny Iko:
Honestly, I did not initially see that he turned his chair. So I was like, all in the crowd, just trying to do my thing. And then I looked back and saw that he turned and I lost it. I don’t know why it made me more nervous, but yeah, it was a moment.
Mark Lewis:
Is that a moment of relief? I mean, are you just trying to get through your number and do it the way you want to do it?
Kenny Iko:
Part of it was relief. The other part of it was like, “Oh, I made it” moment. Like, this is everything I’ve been working toward now, and just to see it coming to fruition, because I wanted two coaches to turn. It was Snoop and Niall, and for him to turn first, it was just like a blessing. I was like, yes.
Mark Lewis:
It had to have been a great feeling to have the judges battling over you at that moment that followed. What’s it been like working with Snoop?
Kenny Iko:
Snoop is just a great — everything you see about Snoop and hear about him as this uncle, he’s definitely that. He brings up a lot of things. He teaches us a lot of stuff. He definitely been investing in me and like giving me gems, and I know our relationship, even after the show, is gonna be crazy.
Mark Lewis:
Now tell us a little bit about your music. What drives you? What do you want people to know about the kind of music that you like and that you like to sing?
Kenny Iko:
I’m a singer-songwriter. I write all my music also, and I just love to create timeless music. Anything that I’m feeling at the time. Like this recent project, “Late CheckOut,” is about just the ups and downs of a relationship, and then the breakup, and then the fact that you may not be ready to end when the relationship ends. So you ask for this late checkout, in the sense of like a hotel.
Mark Lewis:
And you’ve got a video with that as well that was shot around here?
Kenny Iko:
Yes, I released the music video to it. It was shot over in the Great Falls area. One of the hottest video shoots ever, and a lot of bugs.
Mark Lewis:
So you’ve got a lot going on right now — EP out, you’re continuing on The Voice. Now you’re in the battle rounds right now, knockouts are next, right?
Kenny Iko:
Yes, I just won my battle round; that aired last week, and now we’re about to do the finals of the battle rounds, and then now you get to see me in the knockouts.
Mark Lewis:
Wow, that is fantastic, congratulations. I know you’re probably thinking, “This has been a long time coming.” You’ve been working at this for a while, but I tell you, success comes really fast. And you know, we’re so excited for you.

Kelly Clarkson has endured a difficult year, following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares her kids, River and Remy. Now, the star will officially return to our screens on September 29 for the newest season of her award-winning series, The Kelly Clarkson Show. In a statement from NBC, the network shared that the seventh season of the hit series will begin production on September 8, with the first week of shows set honor the brave people who rescued campers during the Texas floods in July.
The devastating floods claimed the lives of at least 132 people, with over 100 still missing in the area. Kelly hails from Texas and was set to perform at a benefit concert for the victims in August before she was forced to cancel due to Brandon’s death. “Unfortunately, Kelly Clarkson will be unable to appear at Band Together Texas as planned, due to personal circumstances,” the organization shared. “We send our love to Kelly and her family.”

NBC shared that the new season of Kelly’s show will welcome a slew of A-listers, including Emily Blunt, Channing Tatum, Marion Cotillard, Lionel Richie, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, Shonda Rimes, Dwayne Johnson, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts, Margot Robbie and Reese Witherspoon. The show debuted in 2019, has gone on to win 22 Daytime Emmy Awards, and is nominated for eight more in 2025.
Kelly has helmed the series for over 1,000 episodes, cementing herself as a TV staple in the process. She will also return to The Voice for season 29 alongside John Legend and Adam Levine. The mother of two was forced to miss a day of shooting following Brandon’s death, with her fellow American Idol alum and talk show star Jennifer Hudson stepping in to help out.

“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,” his loved ones shared in a statement. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.” The 48-year-old died from melanoma, a malignant form of skin cancer.

Just a day before the announcement, Kelly postponed her upcoming August performances, sharing that she needed to be with her kids River, 11, and Remy, nine. “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she wrote on social media. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,” she concluded. The duo first met at the Country Music Awards in 2006, and reconnected in 2012 when she performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl. They married in October 2013, celebrating with an intimate ceremony in Tennessee.

Dancing With the Stars
Fans of DWTS will have to wait until Tuesday, November 12 to watch another episode because of Election Day.
During the show’s regularly scheduled time, ABC will instead be airing its election night coverage Election Night 2024: Your Voice/Your Vote. This will keep Americans updated with real-time updates on the Electoral College map and which candidate secures enough votes to become president.
FBI
FBI is also not airing as usual on Tuesday, November 5 because of Election Day coverage.
The show will be back on its regularly scheduled programming Tuesday, November 12, but for Election Day, viewers will instead be able to watch theCBS News: America Decides: Campaign ’24 Election Night program.
It often makes the most sense for TV networks to delay airing the next week’s episode as most Americans will be glued to election night coverage and would miss a new episode if it was scheduled as usual.
The Real Housewives of New York City
For those who rely on a dose of reality TV to get through any election season anxiety, there’s good news.
Bravo will continue to air The Real Housewives of New York City all throughout Election Night, from roughly 4 to 11 p.m., with a new episode airing at 9 p.m.
Married at First Sight
Fans of a different reality show, Lifetime’s Married at First Sight, have less than ideal scheduling news for the week of the election, however.
The show, which brings strangers together to marry upon their first meeting, is skipping a week, with episodes to return Tuesday, November 12.
1,000-lb Sisters
Another popular TLC reality show, 1,000-lb Sisters, will be pausing its programming this week as well.
So that means viewers will have to wait an extra week to catch up on what’s happening in the Slaton sisters’ lives.
The Voice
The Voice is also taking a break this week due to Election Night coverage. NBC will instead be keeping track of all breaking news updates related to the 2024 election.
Fans of the singing competition show will have to be patient, as the next episode resumes next week on Tuesday, November. 12.

Is Jimmy Kimmel on This Week?
While Jimmy Kimmel Live! is a fixture on ABC, he will not be airing his late-night episode as usual.
This is due to ABC blocking off the time for election night coverage instead.
However, starting on Wednesday, November 6, Kimmel will be back on his usual schedule, with guests Jon Favreau, Jon Lovitz, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor as well as musical guest Alessia Cara.
Is Stephen Colbert on This Week?
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is also following suit and opting against airing a new episode on Election Night.
The next episode is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6 with guest George Stephanopoulos and a music performance by Lenny Kravitz.
Is Seth Meyers on This Week?
Late Night With Seth Meyers is likewise taking a break on Tuesday for NBC’s Election Night coverage.
However, fans don’t have to wait long because Meyers will be back with his regularly scheduled episodes beginning Wednesday.
Is Jimmy Fallon on This Week?
Taking a nod from the other late night TV hosts, Jimmy Fallon is delaying the next episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon due to Election Day coverage.
But the next episode airing on Wednesday will be action packed with guests Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Bailey Zimmerman.
Other Election Coverage
While the final results of this year’s election may not be available for several days, Tuesday’s vote counts will help Americans learn who’s leading in key swing states as well as across America.
ABC News will begin its coverage at 8 a.m. Tuesday, while CNN starts its election show at 5 p.m. Monday.
Fox News will also air its election coverage beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, while MSNBC starts airing its election show at 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The last presidential election in 2020 took four days for officials to make a final call, mostly due to the prominence of mail-in ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing.
For this year’s Election Day, most polling locations close around 7 p.m. or 8 p.m.

It’s hard not to get sucked in by the poetry of Jon Rauhouse’s music.
Longtime fans of the Valley legend and sideman to the stars know what I’m talking about. Rauhouse has a way of turning a song into a spiritual experience with a single bend of a guitar string. It’s just what he does.
For the unfamiliar, please get acquainted. There’s a little something for everyone in the Rauhouse repertoire, except maybe a speed metal record. The guy’s been cranking out good music since the late 1970s, but anyone and everyone is welcome to the party any time.
The last several years have been difficult, to say the least. Rauhouse has been battling the type of cancer diagnosis that would stop many people right in their tracks, but thanks to some new drug therapies, things are at least looking manageable at present. As interesting as that aspect of Rauhouse’s life is, or the years he spent touring with Neko Case, Billy Bob Thornton or as a member of Grievous Angels or Sleepwalker, there’s something even more pressing to explore.
Most recently, he’s been collaborating with Blaine Long, a Valley musician with a wealth of talent and charisma. A one-time contestant on television’s “The Voice,” Long, like Rauhouse, has diligently been carving out a living and career making records here in Phoenix. Together, though, they have made a record. “One Day Will Never Come Back”(Fort Lowell Records) will assuredly be remembered as the finest record to come out of Arizona in 2023.
That’s no shade towards any of the other worthy candidates for this type of accolade, but it’s true. “One Day Will Never Come Back” is only seven tracks and clocks in at less than half an hour, but within these songs, is a love letter from Long and Rauhouse to life in all its glory and pain. If countrified Americana with a tremendous groove and even bigger heart is your thing, “One Day Will Never Come Back” is a perfect record for you.
In fact, on Sunday, Feb. 18, you can hear it for yourself. Long and Rauhouse, as well as some talented friends, will play the record live at The Dirty Drummer in Phoenix at 2 p.m. That’s right, a matinee show, with another of Rauhouse’s outfits, The Sunpunchers, opening up. It’s also free, so there’s no excuse to miss it.
To sit and talk with these gentlemen is a distinct pleasure. What you’ll find is a friendship based on respect and admiration, but also drive. The kinetic force of their will is palpable, and they often complete each other’s sentences. It’s no wonder they made such a special record.
The two met when Long reached out to Rauhouse to do a New Year’s gig at Tarbell’s in the days before COVID hit.
“I’ve been playing shows forever here and he’s been playing shows forever here. (Long) had done something huge. He had gotten on ‘The Voice,’ so I knew his name. There was a whole undercurrent of everyone knowing who he was because in music because he had done that. For musicians, that’s a huge grab. I don’t know if it helps that much, but it makes the world think it does,” Rauhouse says.
“I was in the scene, but I wasn’t in the scene. His name was a name, like the upper echelon. They’re the guys. I was scared of him,” Long adds.
The connection gelled, though, from playing some gigs together and talking about what else they could do. During the early days of the pandemic, Rauhouse chose to play it safe and stay close to home due to his considerable health concerns, and the two songwriters forged their friendship and collaborative partnership.
Long and Rauhouse began hosting their podcast, “The Musician’s Guide To Everything,” in April 2021. You can find episodes here, if so inclined, to get an inside look at various aspects of musicians’ lives and the music world. For Rauhouse, the work with Long was helpful in sustaining his health.
“It was very helpful. The last think I had done with Neko (Case, who Rauhouse has toured and recorded with for over a decade) was a tour cycle we finished in March (2020). We had several tours booked after March that got shitcanned. Because I got so sick, I couldn’t go on tour. Being able to play with Blaine … we get along really well. He’s a great songwriter with really good sensibilities. It was just easy and a no-brainer,” Rauhouse says.
For Long, it was breath of fresh air, as well. After being on “The Voice,” things got a little crazy for him.
“I was getting bullshit offers, weird stuff, because of ‘The Voice.’ To come through the storm of that stuff and band members … everything got really ugly and wild, but everything got settled (with Rauhouse). We were friends who played music together. It was really nice,” says Long, who had one prospective bandmate ask him for $20,000 thinking being on “The Voice”had made him rich. The perspective Rauhouse and Long bring to “One Day Will Never Come Back” is refreshing. While the subject matter is not always the happiest, the overall tone of the record is one of hope and triumph. The collaboration between Long and Rauhouse really does seem to be one of comfort and openness, which can be difficult in the music world due to egos and agendas driven by the thirst for fame. But there’s none of that here.
Long and Rauhouse assembled a veritable all-star team to bring “One Day Will Never Come Back”to life at Darren Baum’s Phoenix studio, Sonic Piranha. Longtime Rauhouse compatriots Lindsay Cates (bass/vocals) and Megyn Neff (violin/viola), as well as Rachel Flotard of Visqueen join in here, as well as some truly awesome contributions by drummer Frank Rowland, and Emily Hunt (cello) on multiple tracks.
“Nothing Lasts Forever” opens the record, and it’s just classic Rauhouse. The guitars carry the listener as if on a cloud. Before you know it, though, you are right into “Jerome,” which features some excellent work by Mitski’s Ty Bailie on the Hammond B3 organ and Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin on saxophone.
“I’d worked with Steve Berlin on a couple of projects he was producing, so I knew him. I had been thinking about (him), and another friend called and said, ‘Steve Berlin says hi.’ I was like, ‘Oh, this is synchronicity. Tell him I have a couple songs I want him to play on,’ and he said, ‘I’ll do it.’ So, that’s how that happened,” Rauhouse says.
“Jerome” also boasts some excellent backing vocals from Betsy Ganz, Raquel Denis and Paula Tesoriero. Local fans will recognize those names from groups like The Sunpunchers and Paula T & Company, as well as acclaimed solo work. The song is truly soulful and the vocal harmonies blend wonderfully with Long’s distinctly rich voice and Berlin’s saxophone blasts.
Bailie’s work on the Hammond B3 is also pretty darn fantastic. It’s hard to pick the best track on “One Day Will Never Come Back,” but “Jerome” is one of those songs that should be on every radio, everywhere if people still listened to the radio like they did in the days “Jerome” evokes.
Jesse Valenzuela of Gin Blossoms’ fame contributes a guitar track on “Pretty Love Song.” Valenzuela’s solo fits the track perfectly, and Gin Blossoms fans will recognize his deft touch. For Long and Rauhouse, it was a treat to have him join the studio fun.
“It was two passes, see you later, and they were both perfect,” Rauhouse says with a twinkle in his eye.
“It was just cool. Good music wins. The best thing on that song is that we didn’t ask him to do the solo. In my head, I was thinking, ‘Do you want to do the solo?’ but I was just grateful to have him on it and he asked, ‘Do you want me to do the solo?’ and he went at it twice … I think that’s my favorite,” Long says.
With friends like these and a strong partnership, there’s no telling what Long and Rauhouse can accomplish. As the album title implies, there’s really no point in looking toward the past. It is comforting to know these two men are looking steadfastly at what is coming next. And there’s something truly poetic about two friends making great music for the rest of us to enjoy.

Reba McEntire could not help but break down in tears during the first live show of season 24 of “The Voice” on Monday night when a contestant performed one of her own songs.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Ruby Leigh, 16, to perform her coach McEntire’s 1990 single “You Lie.” During rehearsals, McEntire went so far as to say that Leigh performed the song better than she ever did.
Leigh knocked it out of the park with her live performance, bringing both McEntire and coach Gwen Stefani to tears.
“You blew it out of the water,” McEntire said as she wiped away tears. “Gwen and I are bawling!”
“There hasn’t been a time that you performed on this show that I haven’t gotten goosebumps,” coach Niall Horan said in agreement. “You are insane!”

McEntire And Other Coaches Sound Off
On the red carpet of the live show, McEntire talked about how exciting this season of “The Voice” is, saying, “I really couldn’t tell you [who might win].”
Her fellow coach John Legend agreed with her.
“The depth of the talent this season is better than I’ve ever seen it on this show since I’ve been here,” he said. “This is my eighth season and I’ve never seen just this level of quality across the board. I’m so impressed with our artists this year.”
“I have some amazing singers, and I think it’s just gonna come down to at this point people start to fall in love with not just the voice, but the person as well,” Gwen Stefani added. “It’s ridiculous this season. I know we say that every season and it always feels like that, but this one has a particularly tall order.”

This is McEntire’s first season serving as a main coach on “The Voice,” as she took the place of Blake Shelton after he left at the end of the 23rd season of the show earlier this year.
“It’s a lot of pressure, because nobody can replace Blake Shelton. He’s a huge personality and a wonderful person. So I’m just getting in there trying to have fun and represent country music as best I can,” McEntire told Newsweekback in September.
“It’s a well-oiled machine, so getting in at this time is marvelous,” she continued. “Everybody knows the game plan, from the crew, the producers. Everybody on the show is so nice, so sweet, and have been so helpful. I’m loving it.”
Stefani, who is married to Shelton, praised McEntire before the live show for how well she’s doing on the program.
“I think it is hard the first time you come here, ’cause its like, there’s just so much,” she said, according to WUSA9. “It’s also so amazing here — you get so inspired. I’m happy for her because I know that for someone that’s done everything in her life a million times over, to be able to kind of mentor people and to be able to watch the growth, it’s so inspiring.”
“Honestly she is so kind and so humble — I almost want to be like, ‘You’re Reba, like, stop!’” she continued with a laugh. “I think she’s just having such a blast and she’s gotten so good at the show really quick.”
McEntire chimed in to say that she’s learned some tricks since taking the coaching seat.
“The main thing that I have learned is to take it one minute at a time,” she said. “It is a lot to take in for the first time being a coach.”

Since it debuted in 2011, there have been more than a dozen coaches on The Voice, from country crooners like Blake Shelton to pop heartthrobs like Nick Jonas. Each judge (and contestant) is different, which is why The Voice salaries and how much coaches make per season on the NBC show aren’t the same either.
Of The Voice‘s 19-plus seasons, Shelton was the longest-serving—from its premiere season until season 23—so it’s assumed that he earned the most. Still, that isn’t to say that the other coaches make pennies. Each judge on The Voice—from Alicia Keys to Adam Levine—has had an esteemed career. And while The Voice hasn’t produced any household names (like, say, American Idol), the show has succeeded in bringing on top-tier talent for its coaches.
Levine told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2019 about how The Voice changed Maroon 5’s career and made him a household name. “I think when the band made [first album Songs About Jane] and had that all going on in the early 2000s, I think I was really young and also, it was a different time,” he said, noting that “not everyone had a camera on them at all times and you enjoyed a certain kind of privacy,” he said. “Then being on The Voice and stuff really changed that even more. What are The Voice salaries and how much do coaches make per season? Read on for what The Voice salaries are for coaches like Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and more, and how much they made.
Blake Shelton (Seasons 1 – 23)

Salary: $13 million per season
It’s unclear how much Shelton made in his first season on The Voice, but in 2016, around the same time as The Voice season 10, The Wrap reported that Shelton signed a deal with NBC to receive $13 million per season. Given that The Voice has two seasons a year, that means that Shelton rakes in an impressive $26 million a year—and maybe more if he’s signed a new deal since 2016. Celebrity Insider reported in 2019 that Shelton and his girlfriend, Gwen Stefan, received “an exceptional bonus to keep the spark alive on-camera” The source also noted that the bump made Shelton and Stefani’s salaries “significantly higher” than those of the other coaches.
Adam Levine (Seasons 1 – 16)

Salary: $14 million per season
Like Shelton, Levine was also an OG coach on The Voice. He left after season 16, but in 2016, The Wrap reported that he signed the same deal as Shelton to receive $13 million per season ($26 million a year.) However, after Levine quit The Voice, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that his salary was even higher at more than $14 million per season and close to $30 million a year.
Christina Aguilera (Seasons 1 – 3, 5, 8, 10)
Salary: $12.5 million – $17 million per season
The Wrap reported in 2014 that Aguilera made $17 million a season as a Voice coach in season 3 (much more than Levine and Shelton). The “Genie in a Bottle” singer quit after that season but returned in season 5, where she took a pay cut, according to The Wrap. For that season and onward, The Wrap reported that she earned $12.5 million a season.
CeeLo Green (Seasons 1 – 3, 5)

Salary: $2 million – $6.5 million per season
CeeLo was one of the OG coaches of The Voice. He left after season 5, claiming that the show “quickly became a job.” Money Nation reported that the singer made $2 million for his first season, which makes sense given that he was less of a household name as the other coaches. By the time he left, though, CeeLo was able to receive a raise, which made his paychecks $6.5 million a season.
Shakira (Season 4, 6)
Salary: $12 million per season
Shakira never won a season on The Voice, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t walk away with an impressive paycheck. The Hollywood Reporter claimed in 2012 that Shakira signed a deal for $12 million a season, which was a lot for a coach on the early seasons of The Voice. It’s unclear if she received a pay raise when she returned for season 6, but if she did, she would’ve likely made around the same $14 million salary as Levine and Shelton.
Usher (Season 4, 6)

Salary: $7 million per season
Usher starred on the same two seasons as Shakira, but he made about half her salary. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the “Yeah” singer made $7 million per season when he signed on in season 4. It’s unclear how much he made to return to The Voice in season 6, but it still likely wouldn’t have been close to any of the other coaches’ salaries.
Gwen Stefani (Seasons 7, 9, 12, 17, 19, 22-24)

Salary: $13 million per season
Stefani became a Voice coach in season 7 and was paid $10 million a season at the time, according to CinemaBlend. However, the No Doubt singer received a $5 raise in season 12 after she and Shelton signed a deal to play up their romance for the cameras, which made her salary $13 million a season. It’s unclear how much Stefani received from The Voice to return as a coach for season 17 (Celebrity Insider reported that she and Shelton received another raise to show their romance onscreen), so it’s likely that she and Shelton earn around the $15 million mark.
Pharrell Williams (Seasons 7 – 10)

Salary: $8 million per season
Feel Guide reported in 2014 that Pharrell signed a deal for $8 million a season when he debuted as a Voice coach in season 7. It isn’t known whether he received a pay bump for his later seasons, but given his lower salary when he started, it’s unlikely that his pay would’ve matched that of Shelton or Levine.
Miley Cyrus (Seasons 11, 13)

Salary: $13 million per season
Cyrus was a Voice coach for seasons 11 and 13. Money Nation reports that the “Malibu” singer made $13 million a season for both seasons, which is a little less than what OGs Levine and Shelton made.
Alicia Keys (Seasons 11 – 12, 14)

Salary: $8 million per season
Money Nation reported in 2016 that Keys made $8 million a season, when she signed on as a Voice coach in season 11. The number isn’t as large as what Levine or Shelton made at the time, but it’s around the same as the pay of other non-OG voice coaches, like Pharrell and Usher.
Jennifer Hudson (Seasons 13, 15)

Salary: $8 million
There haven’t been any reports about what Hudson made on The Voice. But given that she’s an Oscar winner and a bonafide pop star, it’s likely that she made around the $8 million mark for her two seasons on the NBC singing competition. Given the salaries of her predecessors, it’s unlikely that she made more or even close to the salaries of OGs like Levine and Shelton, but we don’t estimate that Hudson’s salary was on the lower end either. Money Nation also reported in 2016 that first-time Voice judges make around $8 million for their first seasons.
Kelly Clarkson (Seasons 14 – 21, 23)

Salary: $15 million per season
When Clarkson debuted as a Voice coach in season 14, Radar Online reported that the American Idol winner signed a deal to receive $15 million per season (a.k.a. $28 million a year.) It’s unclear if the “Since U Been Gone” singer has received a raise since then (she has won three seasons), but if she has, her paycheck could likely be the highest of any Voice coach.
John Legend (Seasons 16 – 22)

Salary: $13 million per season
It’s also unclear what Legend makes as a coach on The Voice. He signed on in season 16 and is a current coach on season 18. He’s also the first EGOT to be a coach on The Voice, which must earn him something, given that the man has about a bajillion Grammys. According to OK! magazine, he made $13 million per season as a judge.
Nick Jonas (Seasons 18, Season 20)

Salary: $8 million
Season 18 marked Jonas’ first season as a Voice coach, so there’s little information about how much he was paid for the role. He’s also one of the younger singers to star on The Voice, so he could make a similar salary to Cyrus—$13 million—though that’s unlikely. Given his career, we estimate that he makes around the $8 to $10 million mark. Money Nation also reported in 2016 that first-time Voice judges make around $8 million for their first seasons.
Ariana Grande (Season 21)

Salary: $20 – $25 million per season
Grande announced that she will be a judge on The Voice season 21 in an instagram post in March 2021. “surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice ! 🤍 @nickjonas we will miss you,” she wrote at the time. According to OK magazine, she will be paid $20 to $25 million for the season, which makes her the highest paid judge ever on The Voice. “Ariana is getting in the $20 to $25 million range to join the show,” a source told OK!, comparing the deal to Kelly Clarkson who “negotiated a whopping $15 million when she joined the show.”
Camila Cabello (Season 22)

Cabello made her debut on The Voice in September 2022 on season 22. While Cabello’s Voice salary hasn’t been confirmed, Money Nation reported in 2016 that first-time Voice judges make around $8 million for their first seasons.
Niall Horan (Season 23, 24)

Horan made his debut on The Voice in March 2023 as a coach on season 23. While his salary hasn’t been confirmed, The Sun reported that he was expected to make around $8 million per season, which is what other Voice coaches made for their first seasons. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Horan is worth $70 million.
Chance the Rapper (Season 23)

Chance the Rapper made his debut on The Voice in March 2023 as a coach on season 23. While Chance the Rapper’s salary hasn’t been confirmed, The Sun reported that he was expected to make $8 million per season, which is the starting salary for most Voice coaches for their first season.
Reba McEntire (Season 24)

It hasn’t been publicly disclosed how much Reba McEntire makes per season of The Voice, but we can assume it hovers around the $13 million mark because that’s the average salary for hosts. McEntire replaced Shelton after he announced he was leaving after season 23. It matches what Shelton was being paid, too, and while $8 million is commonly the starting salary, McEntire has been a fixture on the show in other capacities.

“The Voice” season 25 will feature the first-ever double coaches’ chair on the American version of the singing competition, and on Thursday, we learned who will be filling those seats!
The coaches lineup for this fall’s season 24 has already been set — with Reba taking over Blake’s spinning chair, alongside Legend and fellow returning coaches Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani — so Dan + Shay’s double chair won’t be making its debut until 2024. But thankfully the duo are already familiar with “The Voice”, having served as Team Blake’s Battle Round Advisors in season 20 back in 2021.
The duo even took to the “The Voice”‘s social media accounts to share their excitement for the upcoming gig, and answer some questions about how the brand new double chair will work.
“We have never been more excited for anything in our entire lives,” Dan raved in the clip.
“People have been asking, is it two chairs? Is it one?” Shay shared. “It’s two chairs…but one button!”
ET spoke with Reba at “The Voice”‘slive season 23 semifinals earlier this year, where the country music legend shared why now was the “perfect” time for her to join the show — after turning it down when “The Voice” was first in development in 2011.
“The first time I ever heard of ‘The Voice’, I saw the tape from Holland’s [version of the show],” she recalled. “They asked me to do it, and I turned it down.”
“But I think timing is everything,” Reba added. “It all worked out for it to work now. I think I’ll be a better mentor to help the kids out more.”
“I call them kids because they’re all younger than me,” she continued with a laugh. “But I will be really excited to get it started.”
Country music legend Reba McEntire is stepping in as a coach for season 24 of “The Voice.”
The announcement Monday comes more than six months after coach Blake Shelton said he’d be leaving the show. Shelton, the longest-tenured coach on “The Voice,” frequently worked with country singers on the show.
McEntire is a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee. While season 24 will be her first as a coach, she served as a “Mega Mentor” during season 23 and as Shelton’s battle advisor back in season 1.

Congratulations on your new single, “Mess Me Up,” how does this song represent your sound?
It’s got my vibe and energy, I think it’s real and people my age can relate to it. It has some edge to it, I want fans to crank this up and really feel it.
What was the inspiration behind your new single?
I wanted to talk about those first love experiences where you’re still trying to figure it all out. What the other person is feeling, what I’m feeling… the whole ride you go on when you’re falling for someone. It can get confusing but you try to play it cool and be real at the same time.
You won The Voice two years ago when you were 15! What was that experience like and how has it shaped your music career?
The Voice was a great experience, so grateful for it. Being on a big stage with all the eyes on you at such a young age taught me a lot. I got to work with incredible people and such amazing talent and stars like my coach Gwen Stefani.
How has your sound evolved since winning?
My sound has grown so much since being 14-15 then, I’ve done a lot of growing up in two years. Now I know what I want and who I am today… sonically and what I want to say lyrically. I have a vision for my career at this point in my life and I’m so ready for the next chapter. I know I’ll keep evolving and that process is so cool to me. I just want to be real, share what I’m feeling and connect with people who can relate. I’m excited to build that true connection that will last and grow with my fans, we’ll grow up together.
Are there any artists that you’d like to collaborate with in the future?
There’s so many great artists, it’s hard to make a short list. A few would be Lauren Spencer-Smith, Jessie Murph, Tate McRae, Ruel, Zach Hood, charlieonnafriday, Thomas Day, just to name a few. Of course, if any of my major influences are interested, I’m in for sure… Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, they can call me anytime. 😉
What are you most looking forward to this year?
This year I’m so excited to be releasing new music consistently. I have an amazing team supporting me and we’ll keep getting new music out! I have some new singles I’ll be sharing soon and I’m continuing to write and record. Also, super stoked for live shows! There’s no better way to connect with your fans and new people than playing live. It’s just the best energy, I can’t wait.

Since winning The Voice in 2018, Brynn Cartelli has matured as both a vocalist and songwriter. You can hear this on her latest single, “Secondhand Smoke.” The lyrics have more weight, and her voice sounds more confident. Shortly before its release last month, Cartelli performed the song solo with piano on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson, who coached Cartelli on The Voice, has continuously supported the 19-year-old’s career.
During a recent trip to Los Angeles, we caught up with Cartelli to talk about her growth as an artist and the new single. We also filmed an episode of 5 Tracks That Inspired Me (watch below).
Where did “Secondhand Smoke” come from? Is it about a real person? “Secondhand Smoke” is a true story about the heartbreaking end to a friendship I experienced. I was getting ready to graduate high school, and so many things from my childhood were changing; where I would live, who I would be surrounded by. In these transitional phases, we tend to assess where we’re at, how we’re really feeling about the people we’re closest to. I had the title “Secondhand Smoke” in my notes app for a while, and rediscovered it one morning while at my piano.
You just performed it on The Kelly Clarkson Show with just a piano. What was that experience like? It was really emotional for me to return to “Secondhand Smoke” on just a piano while returning to NBC to play music live. I honestly felt very nostalgic, and so grateful for Kelly’s love and support.
What’s the best thing and the worst thing about performing on TV? The best thing is definitely how dramatic we can be with lights and stage design, that’s always been my favorite part of planning a performance. The worst part is trying to ignore the cameras by getting lost in the song while also making sure my hair isn’t falling in my face.
How have your vocals evolved since you were on The Voice? I think my voice has obviously grown up a lot since then, especially because I was like 15 and fresh out of puberty haha. I used to cover up my nerves with more vibrato. I think I’m less likely to do that now.
How many of your song ideas actually get turned into songs? How do you organize everything? Most of the ideas I either write down in my notes or record on my phone somehow find their way into a song at some point. I keep a big, long list in my phone of ideas and a separate one of titles. There are also little notes scattered all over my apartment with ideas and concepts that I might use one day. The only way to organize anything is to write it down. I mourn all the hits that could have been written if someone wrote down the lyric or recorded the melody, even if it’s just on a phone.
Are you able to relax the night before a new song comes out? No! Never. Especially not with “Secondhand Smoke.” I was so nervous for people to listen to such a vulnerable song.
5 Tracks That Inspired Brynn Cartelli
What was it like working with Ben Abraham on “If I Could?” Ben and I wrote “If I Could” on the first day we met, which is pretty magical. I remember we had been throwing out a lot of ideas that day with different topics, but I felt so safe to share with Ben what had been going on back home with my friends. Just like that, “If I Could” was born. What would you be doing if you weren’t in music? I always dreamed of directing a film.
Can you tell us anything about your next album? I won’t give away too much, but for now I’ll say the next project is about liminality, the “in betweens” of life. Away from your past but not quite in your future yet, on the brink of something exciting. There’s tension and heartache and so much hope.
What have you been listening to lately? I have been listening to a lot of Caroline Polachek recently. Her new record is phenomenal, and she is an incredible artist on so many fronts. I’m a huge fan.

1. Congratulations on “What A Night!” What was the inspiration for it?
Thanks! I really wanted to jump back into making electronic music that also has a pop element to it. That’s my favorite kind of music to make, having a foot in both worlds. We (VAMERO and Gibbs) had a lot of fun playing around with the direction we wanted to take it in. For us, it was cool to play with a melody that people recognize but add our own spin to it. It was important to keep it wholly original but also fun – the inspiration is as simple as that.
2. What was creating the track with VAMERO and Gibbs like?
A lot of fun! We’ve never collaborated before so I really enjoyed us sharing ideas and seeing where that took us. It was refreshing, the guys were super cool!
3. “What A Night” is another feel-good track that could very well be the song of the summer. What’s been your favorite part about making it?
Thank you! For me, it was the coming together of ideas, as I said, to really learn how we could work together. I think when we all landed on what we wanted to do with the melody, things really started to come together. And then when we added the vocal, it added this whole new, radio-ready element that was almost pop but still very much appealing to dance fans too. I think the end result was not what we expected but that is the beauty of collaborating – and we are so glad the fans are enjoying it, too!
4. You have one of the biggest dance songs with your track “Solo Dance,” how do you find inspiration for new and original tracks that somehow make people want to get up and dance?
It’s just about seeing where the journey takes you. I have said before, I love to work with vocalists and find inspiration a lot of the time in lyrics. The idea of telling a story, to me, never gets old. I think “Solo Dance” really captured that for me and was just the beginning of my story. Take for example my recent track with Jay Sean on “Days Like This” – we really wanted to bring our fans something that was fun and also a little unexpected from both of us. The stand-put on the track is Jay’s vocal really setting alight and telling the story. I loved that and that’s what really drew me to work with him. I’ve been a fan of his work for years.
5. What was it like performing at some of the biggest festivals like Tomorrowland and Lollapalooza? How excited are you to perform your new music for your fans live?
So much fun, there is nothing better than performing! This year I’m returning to. Tomorrowland which will be a blast. I haven’t attended or played since before the pandemic –this summer is set to be a huge one!
6. You’ve previously worked with big names in the music industry on remixes like Katy Perry, Jason Derulo, and Ed Sheeran. How do you work with multiple genres without losing your classic sound?
It’s important that no matter the genre, you always stay true to your own signature sound. I’m a huge pop music fan anyway, so it was a joy to add my stamp and bring those releases more into the electronic world. I also loved creating something that would make fans of those artists hear my music and think, “Holy shit, this is cool”.
7. What’s it like to be the first DJ judge on The X Factor Denmark?
It was an honor and a crazy experience. Of course, everyone understands how fast-paced it is just from watching the show. It’s literally in almost every country around the world and is a real crash course on the industry. I think that can be a blessing and a curse as it’s really sink-or-swim for these artists out there. But to have such a huge role in that, especially in my home of Denmark, was amazing.
8. What do you have coming up this year? Any new music or tour?
Yes! Lots of new music – this year has already been a crazy one so I’m really looking forward to getting out on tour and road-testing these tracks and so much more. It feels like things have really come full circle since the pandemic and we can all finally party together. It’s gonna be a good 2023!

– Morgan Myles was a top three finalist on the latest season of NBC’s The Voice, andnow she is hopeful to use her voice in a different way — to share her family’s story and bring more awareness to the work that the Glioblastoma Foundation is doing to assist patients in their fight against this aggressive cancer.
While on The Voice, Myles dedicated her semi-final performance of Lady Gaga’s “Remember Us This Way” in memory of her cousin Mac and her grandfather — both of whom she tragically lost to Glioblastoma.
“It was a deeply felt loss for my family,” said Myles. “Mac was so young, with so much life to live. I wanted to stay strong for Mac and my family and stay hopeful.
“I channeled everything I was going through with losing Mac into my music. I’m proud to use my platform to bring increased awareness to Glioblastoma and the work of the Glioblastoma Foundation.”
Myles is featured in a digital campaign highlighting the urgent need for funding to support the development of new, more effective treatments to help Glioblastoma patients live longer and more comfortably.
Glioblastoma is the most common and most deadly form of brain cancer, with an overall five-year survival rate of just 5 percent. Each year, over 15,000 people are diagnosed with Glioblastoma and half of those diagnosed pass away within one year.
While Glioblastoma has received more attention in recent years due to the introduction of Glioblastoma Awareness Day in 2019 — more public education and research funding is desperately needed.
