  • Actress Tara Reid alleges she was drugged at Rosemont hotel bar

    Actress Tara Reid was hospitalized over the weekend after claiming she was drugged at a Rosemont hotel bar.

    The “Big Lebowski” and “American Pie” actress told TMZ on Monday that she was hospitalized early Sunday after drinking a glass of wine she alleged had been spiked.

    In a news release Tuesday night, Rosemont’s Public Safety Department confirmed the incident involving Reid, stating the department responded to a call of a sick person at Rosemont’s DoubleTree Hotel just before 12:40 a.m.

    The patient received care from Rosemont paramedics, with assistance from patrol officers, before getting transported to a local hospital, according to the department.

    In her account to TMZ, Reid said she had ordered a drink at the hotel bar, then briefly stepped outside to smoke a cigarette. When she returned, Reid said her drink was covered by a napkin, which she added struck her as odd because it was uncovered when she left. Still, she continued on drinking, she said.

    “Without even finishing my drink,” she said, “I just, like, passed out. And before I knew it, I was in the hospital eight hours later.”

    When asked by TMZ hosts Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere if she was subjected to a blood alcohol test, Reid replied, “No, they just said you were drugged. That’s what they said, they said you got drugged last night at the bar.”

    “It was all kind of vague,” she said. “It was all, like, very blurry.”

    Reid said that after her hospital stay, she went on to attend a signing event.

    About 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Rosemont Public Safety spoke with Reid, who was looking to file a police report, the department said. An online report was submitted “to fully document the incident and properly detail what is known at this time,” the department said.

    The department noted that it “understands the severity of the allegations being reported and are committed to investigating this incident fully,” adding it was in communication with the hotel to gather video surveillance footage.

    “You have to be really careful with your drink,” Reid told TMZ.

    Tara Reid had a terrifying weekend.

    The American Pie actress is opening up about a truly troubling series of events that occurred over the weekend — culminating in her being drugged and wheeled out of a hotel on a stretcher!

    During a conversation with TMZ published on Monday, Tara explained she checked into the hotel late on Saturday night in Rosemont, which is just outside of Chicago. After settling into her room, she made her way downstairs to the bar to order a drink before heading outside for a smoke. She told the outlet she ran into some YouTube star in the lobby, and one of them even accompanied her outside for a cigarette.

    After that, she returned to the bar inside where her drink — a glass of wine — was covered with a napkin. She didn’t place the napkin on it, but removed it and drank the wine anyway. And the next thing she remembers is being in the hospital. So she believes while she was outside, someone slipped drugs into her drink!

    Whoa! Scary!

    Rosemont Police told the outlet they received a call about a “sick person” and that paramedics responded to the scene at 12:39 a.m. Sunday morning. At the time, there was no mention of a possible “drugging,” but they transported Tara — who was clearly under heavy influence — to the hospital. TMZ obtained hard-to-watch footage of her slumped over in the hotel lobby before being wheeled off in a stretcher. Watch HERE.

    As of now, Tara has not filed a police report.

    In the past, the Sharknado star has struggled with substance abuse… and the person who recorded the footage claimed at one point while under the influence she shouted, “You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress.”t

    We hope she’s okay and that she gets to the bottom of this!

    ‘Community history at its best:’ Documenting Alexandria’s ‘Colored Rosemont’

    A newly unveiled Virginia State Historical Marker is just part of an ongoing effort to tell the story of a once-vibrant Alexandria community whose descendants proudly refer to it by the name it was given in the 1920s: “Colored Rosemont.”

    On Saturday, Alexandria City officials, community leaders, historians and the descendants of Colored Rosemont gathered near the intersection of Wythe and West Streets to celebrate the new marker and the history of the neighborhood that most people would know today as West Braddock.

    Audrey P. Davis is the director of the Division of African American History for the Office of Historic Alexandria. Davis explains that Colored Rosemont evolved as a local white landowner, Virginia F.W. Thomas, sold off parcels of land to Black families, ignoring the restrictive covenants of the time that often barred those families from buying in certain neighborhoods.

    “She was really an early advocate for these African American families and so she helped to create this neighborhood that we now call Colored Rosemont,” said Davis.

    The white neighborhood was known simply as Rosemont and the two were divided by what is now the Braddock Road Metro station, said Davis, who has been researching the community history.

    “What you hear are just wonderful family stories of holidays celebrated together with their neighbors, families who looked out for each other, who looked out for the children who were around,” Davis said. “It was a vibrant community, even though they were facing segregation and there were places they couldn’t go.”

    Eminent domain impacted the community

    The neighborhood splintered in the mid-20th century, said Davis, who noted that a vibrant and active community was broken up.

    “It’s not something that the city is proud of, but these families were displaced by eminent domain so that public housing could go in.”

    Davis said the Office of Historic Alexandria is now working with descendants to collect an oral history of the community.

    “And really, it’s community history at its best. It’s letting the descendants help guide us in the interpretation, it’s not us forcing an interpretation on the families on what their community was,” she said.

    The descendants of Colored Rosemont are also involved in more preservation efforts.

    “Some of them have actually donated clothing and artifacts to the Black History Museum,” Davis said. “So we’re hoping one day that we can have an exhibit on Colored Rosemont and other neighborhoods in Alexandria where African American families were displaced.”
