    Northport-based and Kempower are expanding power access for  with five new vehicle charging stations. 

    Three of the EV fast-charging stations will be soon available at in Elmont, Levittown and Commack. The companies just launched their first fast-charging station at the Glen Oaks Shopping Center in Queens and will soon open another in Whitestone. 

    The new stations, each with eight dual-port Kempower Satellite chargers with NACS/CCS1 connectors, are coming soon to the Home Depot Shopping Center at 1760 Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont; the Commack Shopping Center at 50 Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack; and the Nassau Mall shopping center at 3601 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. All of the properties are owned by the Feil Organization.

    The fast-charging stations feature free Wi-Fi, a few payment options, and don’t require new apps or memberships to access, according to a company statement. Get Charged rates start at $0.42 per kilowatt-hour, and ride share drivers, the high-volume, frequent flyers of EV charging, get juiced at a discounted rate.

    “Get Charged is committed to providing fast, safe, and dependable charging infrastructure,” said Marc Horowitz, Get Charged Fast EV Charging co-managing partner. “Kempower is the ideal partner for supplying innovative, world-class charging hardware to meet the fast-charging needs of the region and the industry.” 

    At each location, Get Charged Fast leases eight existing parking spots and an additional 400 square feet to house its chargers and associated equipment. Besides the rent, the property owners also get a small percentage of the charging revenue, and the EV chargers allow landlords to provide an additional amenity to their shoppers. 

    “Over the last five or six years, I’ve been approached many times by lots of different EV chargers, and we just kind of felt that the industry had matured enough at this point where we could make an intelligent decision for the benefit of the customers of our shopping centers, providing an amenity that wouldn’t necessarily be obsolete in a few years,” said Randall Briskin, vice president of retail leasing for Feil Organization. “And so we finally elected to take most of our shopping centers and allocate a few parking spaces for these EV chargers.” 

    Horowitz said his firm is actively seeking other malls and shopping centers as prospective charging station sites on Long Island.  

    “We offer the amenity to our landlords at zero cost to them and help them to draw in new shoppers, supporting the flow of traffic to their tenant businesses,” Horowitz told LIBN. “We take responsibility for everything needed, including design and engineering, construction, permitting and insuring, working with PSEG, maintenance, ownership and operation of the entire site. We install our own independent electric meter and use only top-of-the-line U.S. manufactured DC fast chargers.” 

    While the lack of EV chargers has exacerbated “range anxiety,” a top concern for people considering purchasing electric vehicles, the number of charging stations has steadily increased. Nassau and Suffolk counties currently have 1,561 EV charging ports: 579 DCFC ports and 982 Level 2 ports, an overall increase of more than 500 ports from 2024. Those stations serve an ever-increasing number of vehicles, as there are now 87,304 EVs registered on Long Island, according to Drive Electric Long Island. 

    “Drive Electric Long Island is very happy to hear of the expanding charging infrastructure on Long Island that will help support and complement charging on corridors here on Long Island,” Ronald Gulmi, chair of Drive Electric Long Island’s EV Infrastructure & Fleet Committee, told LIBN. “The new charging stations will complement charging done at workplaces, multi-unit dwellings and residences, helping to expand the range of electric vehicle travel.” 

    Based in Finland, Kempower has its U.S. headquarters in Durham, N.C. Listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki Stock Exchange, the company manufactures modular and scalable EV charging systems that are now in 66 countries. 

    “Globally, EV drivers increasingly prefer charging spots with access to a variety of services like the Get Charged retail-centered charging hubs,” Kempower North America President Monil Malhotra said in the statement. “We’re pleased to work with Get Charged to provide accessible and convenient solutions for EV drivers across New York.”

    Elected officials and business leaders joined executives of Rallye Motor Company earlier this month at a groundbreaking ceremony for its new $37 million dealership in Jericho. 

    The new 67,000-square-foot dealership building is being constructed on a 5-acre site that once housed two office buildings at 125 and 131 Jericho Turnpike that were demolished last year. Rallye will be relocating from its longtime 32,000-square-foot facility in Glen Cove and expanding to the new Lexus dealership that will be about twice the size. The is expected to open in early 2027.

    “Since Rallye’s founding, we’ve remained dedicated to delivering world-class luxury experiences for our customers,” said Juliana Terian, Rallye president and CEO, said in a company statement. “This flagship Lexus facility represents both the strength of our partnership with Lexus and our continued investment in serving our beloved Long Island community with timeless excellence.” 

    Rallye’s Jericho dealership will feature a spacious showroom, enhanced service center with advanced technology and SUV loaner vehicles, valet pick up and drop off,  and more. 

    “Lexus entered the United States market 36 years ago, and Rallye has been a valued partner since the very beginning,” Patrick Ehlen, general manager for Lexus Eastern Area, said in the statement. “We have always recognized that a key component of our success lies in our local dealers’ dedication to their communities and team members—a commitment that remains as strong today as ever…This investment reflects the core philosophy that each dealer treats every customer as a guest in their own home.” 

    An entity of Rallye purchased the two five-story office buildings on nearly 4 acres for $15.7 million at a foreclosure auction in 2018, and the company later purchased adjoining parcels to make room for the new development. 

    “The new dealership has been years in the making,” John Tetta, general manager of , said in the statement. “As Lexus redefines what luxury means through its design and tech, we recognized our facility must be as advanced as the Lexus vehicle itself, to elevate the showroom experience to the same level as our renowned customer care.” 

    Founded in 1958 by Peter Terian and a few friends as a small, imported car service garage, Rallye has become the largest luxury automotive group on Long Island and is one of the few woman-owned car dealer groups in the country. Rallye has locations in Roslyn, East Hills, Westbury and Glen Cove and represents automotive brands Acura, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter.

    ACMobility launches EV charging stations in Ayala Center Cebu

    ACMobility, the mobility arm of the Ayala Group, launched two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Ayala Center Cebu on April 29, 2024.

    Located on Basement 1 of the Ayala Center Cebu parking lot, the two charging stations are rated 22KW AC and are available for use by all EV owners whose vehicles carry a CCS2 and GB/T charging standard.

    The charging stations are a first for ACMobility in the province of Cebu and complement the recent launch of BYD Cebu, which aims to provide Cebuanos with access to quality, accessible electric vehicles. As of the end of April, ACMobility has 48 charging stations in 23 locations nationwide.

    Ayala Center Cebu charging stations will remain free throughout May. Operating hours follow Ayala Center Cebu mall hours of 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. on Sundays through Thursdays and 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. on Fridays and Saturdays, unless otherwise advised.

    As part of its commitment to promoting sustainability, Araneta City has introduced electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in its shopping malls and office towers.

    The City of Firsts unveiled in February its first EV charging stations at the basement parking of Cyberpark 1 and 2. Each station has Level 2 chargers with 5-meter Type 2 connector cables and three-phase grid power supply, charging electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles faster. 

    The rollout of Araneta City EV charging stations is continuing with other buildings.

    “Araneta City continues to transition into a sustainable and environment-friendly community by implementing green initiatives like the EV charging stations. It is a step to keep the City of Firsts future-proof and adaptive to the evolving needs of times,” Antonio T. Mardo, senior vice president for Operations of Araneta City, said.

    The installation of EV charging stations is the latest measure to integrate environmental sustainability. Earlier green initiatives in the City include the solar panels at Cyberpark 1, green building design elements in Cyberpark 2, the adoption of LEED standards in Cyberpark 3, the use of geothermal energy to power Ali Mall, and the launch of Green & Go e-shuttles.

    “Through these initiatives, the City of Firsts supports the current push to reduce carbon footprint and adopt eco-friendly lifestyle options,” Mardo said.
