  • Megan Fox Reflects on “Very Difficult” Pregnancy Loss With Machine Gun Kelly

Megan Fox Reflects on “Very Difficult” Pregnancy Loss With Machine Gun Kelly

    [ad_1]

In a deeply personal collection of poetry titled “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous,” published on Nov. 7, Megan Fox revealed she experienced a pregnancy loss that profoundly impacted her relationship with Colson Baker, aka Machine Gun Kelly. “I had never been through anything like that in my life,” Fox said in a recent interview with Good Morning America about her book of poems. “I have three kids, so it was very difficult for both of us and it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately . . . trying to navigate, ‘What does this mean?’ and ‘Why did this happen?’”

“I had never been through anything like that in my life.”

In one poem about an ultrasound, the mom of three boys, reflects on being 10 weeks pregnant with a baby girl, writing, “maybe if you hadn’t . . . maybe if i had . . .” The brief verse appears to be an expression of grief over her pregnancy loss with Fox contemplating what could have been.

Later in the book, Fox writes, “I want to hold your hand / hear your laugh.” In a separate verse, she adds, “but now / I have to say / goodbye.” Using lines that blend anecdotes with analogies, Fox poignantly expresses her sorrow. “I will pay any price,” Fox writes of her pregnancy loss and the possibility of carrying her baby to term. “Tell me please / what is the ransom / for her soul?”

The verses in Fox’s poems are heartbreaking and vulnerable, showing a side of the actor and writer we have not seen before. Months before Fox’s book of poems was published, however, fans believe Kelly may have alluded to Fox’s pregnancy loss in his song, “Last November.” The song, which was released on June 24, includes the lyrics “You didn’t wake up today / I didn’t get to see your face / Was it my fault? Was it karma?” In the second verse, Kelly adds, “One day and another ten weeks / I never even got to hear your heart beat.”

In the song’s chorus, Kelly, who is a father to 13-year-old Casie Colson Baker from a previous relationship, adds, “So sad we ended up here / So sad, but everything’s clear / Could I save your life if I pressed rewind? / I wish I could go back to November last year.” In a zine about his album “Mainstream Sellout,” Kelly added that his song “Twin Flame” was originally titled “One Day and 10 Weeks,” a reference to the duration of Fox’s pregnancy. At the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, he also dedicated a performance of “Twin Flame,” to “our unborn child” after telling the audience he “wrote this song for my wife.”

Fox’s staggering poems have struck a powerful cord with many fans who have had similar experiences. “I can feel her pain and strength, vividly. A beautiful release while finding her voice,” one reader wrote on Amazon. Another reader added, “The poems are hypnotizing. It hits deep in your soul.”

  • Hunter Schafer Drips Down the Red Carpet in a Hand-Painted Puzzle-Piece Dress

Hunter Schafer Drips Down the Red Carpet in a Hand-Painted Puzzle-Piece Dress

    [ad_1]

Hunter Schafer served surrealist haute couture in a hand-painted puzzle-piece dress on Nov. 5. While attending the “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” premiere in Berlin, Schafer had her own Katniss Everdeen–inspired grand entrance in a crochet midi dress that created the illusion of paint dripping down her body. Her stylist, Dara, completed the look with a pair of white pointed-toe pumps. While it didn’t catch fire, the outfit certainly caught our attention from all angles as Schafer strutted down the red carpet.

Inspired by the artist Lucian Freud, who specialized in figurative art, the dress is made up of mosaic-like pieces of painted paillettes embroidered on crochet netting. According to the designer’s website, the inventive piece is intended to be a trompe-l’oeil reproduction of a woman’s body. In addition to the melting effect along the sleeves and hemline, the look also features subtle rhinestone detailing on the edge of each irregularly shaped segment. The avant-garde ensemble, designed by Daniel Roseberry, first made its debut in Schiaparelli’s fall 2023 haute couture runway show.

Beautiful in its draping, its array of colors, and the way it moves down the red carpet, Schafer’s dress is a fantasy vision brought to life. The closer you look, the more you notice. From the rosette shapes along the chest to the dark red heart along the rib cage, each shade of pink, yellow, and orange appears to be a celebration of the human anatomy. Some celebrity outfits mesmerize us with their unique fabric choices and carefully placed cutouts; Schafer’s dress demands a double-take the way the Mona Lisa deserves a spot in the Louvre: to appreciate the beauty in every fine detail.

Though the outfit employs a couple of our favorite red carpet trends — the mock-neck design and the naked-illusion-dress silhouette — the finished product is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Needless to say, Schafer would certainly earn our vote in the Hunger Games.

  • Reneé Rapp Covers “Your Love Is My Drug” With Musical “Hero” Kesha

Reneé Rapp Covers “Your Love Is My Drug” With Musical “Hero” Kesha

    [ad_1]

Reneé Rapp experienced a heartwarming full-circle moment when she performed on stage with her musical hero Kesha in New York on Nov. 2. During the most recent leg of Rapp’s Snow Hard Feelings Tour, the 23-year-old actor and singer welcomed Kesha on stage to perform her 2010 hit “Your Love Is My Drug.” As the crowd went wild with excitement, Rapp’s face lit up, slowly reaching a contagious level of joy.

    “You are everything to me.”

“I f*cking love you,” Kesha told Rapp in between lyrics. Giddy with excitement and disbelief, Rapp returned Kesha’s “I love you” and bowed to her musical idol. Shortly after the performance, Rapp also updated her website to read “I f*cking love you” as the tagline. Once the song came to a close, the duo shared an enthusiastic hug, exchanging words of praise as they pulled back from the embrace. Though the duet only lasted a few minutes, Rapp, who has admired Kesha since she was a child, rightfully needed a moment to recover.

“the first time I heard kesha was in the back seat of my cousins car when I was 9,” Rapp recalled on Instagram, citing Kesha’s refreshing electropop sound as a point of awakening in her young life. “I remember hearing tiktok for the first time and thinking holy sh*t what am I listening to. i can still see myself in the car freaking out and hearing my cousin say ‘this is kesha.. she is so f*cking cool.’ context; my cousin who is 10 years older than me is the only other gay girl in our family. everything she’s ever told me is cool is f*cking cool. i looked up to my cousin a lot for obvious reasons, so immediately kesha became my hero.”

For Rapp, Kesha became an instant role model. “having a woman in music to admire who was so daring and exciting made me feel like I could say what the f*ck I wanted to say when I wanted to say it,” said Rapp, who released her debut studio album, “Snow Angel,” in August. “that meant everything to a 9 year old girl living in the south who would eventually be told countless times that she was too loud, too harsh, a hoe and not lady like. she changed the game for me. kesha I love you and last night was the greatest night of my life. I will never get over seeing you for the first time off stage right listening to tummy hurts. you are everything to me. what a f*cking honor.”

In the comments section, Kesha praised Rapp’s musical talent and success. “I’m so proud of you bby. Your voice, style, your YOUness,” she said. “I wish I caught that moment on camera. it’s in my head forevss.” As Kesha stepped off stage immediately following their performance, Rapp shouted more “I love yous” and took a second to compose herself. “I might cry,” she told the audience.

On Oct. 31, days before her momentous Kesha duet, Rapp fed further into the 2000s nostalgia by dressing up as “Baby”-era Justin Bieber. During the show, Rapp — wearing Bieber’s matching hoodie and baseball cap combo — serenaded “The Summer I Turned Pretty” star Lola Tung with a cover of “One Less Lonely Girl.”

Thanks to fans on TikTok who captured her sweet encounter with Kesha, you can relive the pivotal moment when Rapp met her childhood hero here. Ahead, see Rapp and Kesha tear up the stage at the Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, NY.

  • They’re Engaged! Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum Defy the Celebrity Breakup Trend

They’re Engaged! Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum Defy the Celebrity Breakup Trend

    [ad_1]

Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum are engaged. Amid a sea of celebrity breakups in recent months, multiple sources confirmed the couple’s happy news with People on Oct. 30. The news comes just two days after the pair were spotted leaving a Halloween party, during which Kravitz seemingly showed off her engagement ring.

On the night in question, Kravitz and Tatum dressed up as Rosemary Woodhouse and her baby, respectively, from the 1968 horror movie “Rosemary’s Baby.” While photos of the couple’s Halloween costume went viral, many fans were too distracted by Tatum’s baby bonnet and the knife prop in Kravitz’s hand to notice the massive diamond engagement ring. Upon closer inspection of her right ring finger, however, she seems to be making no attempt to cover up the ring — a subtle but sweet engagement announcement.

Tatum and Kravitz were first romantically linked in August 2021 when they were spotted spending time together in New York City. Dating rumors first began to circulate around the same time Tatum began filming “P*ssy Island,” which Kravitz directed and cowrote. In September 2022, after months of keeping their relationship private, a source confirmed Tatum and Kravitz were a couple.

In November 2022, Kravitz opened up about their relationship in an interview with GQ. “He’s just a wonderful human,” she said of Tatum, who’s a father of one. “He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do. We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other.”

In that same interview, Kravitz added she and Tatum had put off discussing their relationship seriously up until that point. “You want to keep it sacred and private as long as you can,” she said. “So that you don’t have to even think about what the world thinks about it.” Prior to becoming a couple, Tatum was romantically linked to Jessie J, while Kravitz was in a relationship with Karl Glusman.

  • JAY-Z Reveals the Unexpected Inspiration Behind Blue Ivy’s Name

JAY-Z Reveals the Unexpected Inspiration Behind Blue Ivy’s Name

    [ad_1]

Blue Ivy Carter’s name has been synonymous with success since day one. As the daughter of Beyoncé and JAY-Z, the 11-year-old has navigated inherited fame like a pro. At eight years old, she was nominated for a Grammy for her contributions to Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.” More recently, Blue Ivy guest starred as a backup dancer on her mom’s “Renaissance” tour, showcasing her mastery over the complex choreography. On Oct. 27, however, JAY-Z rocked the internet when he revealed that his oldest daughter’s name — the same name fans have come to know and love — was almost completely different.

“We just took the ‘berry’ off and called her Blue.”

“It was supposed to be Brooklyn,” JAY-Z told Gayle King in a “CBS Mornings” interview. “That was the name we had in theory.” Say again? Brooklyn Carter? Though Brooklyn also starts with a B, it’s a far cry from Blue, a unique name that has allowed the preteen to go mononymous just like her mom. Of course, if the couple had opted to name their daughter Brooklyn, it likely would have been a nod to the New York borough where JAY-Z grew up.

As it stands, her actual name also has a pretty sweet meaning. “When we got the sonogram, we was calling her Blueberry. Like, ‘Look at the little blueberry,’” the dad of three said. “You know, it was like a nickname for nine months.” After referring to their firstborn as Blueberry the entirety of Beyoncé’s pregnancy, the adorable nickname stuck, and Blue Ivy was born. JAY-Z added, “It was just natural. We just took the ‘berry’ off and called her Blue.”

Prior to the revelatory interview, many fans speculated Blue Ivy’s name was derived from a quote in Rebecca Solnit’s 2005 novel, “A Field Guide to Getting Lost,” which Beyoncé shared to her Tumblr account in 2012. “The world is blue at its edges and in its depths,” the piece reads. “This blue is the light that got lost. Light at the blue end of the spectrum does not travel the whole distance from the sun to us. It disperses among the molecules of the air, it scatters in the water.”

The piece continues, “Water is colourless, shallow water appears to be the colour of whatever lies underneath it, but deep water is full of this scattered light, the purer the water the deeper the blue. The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of the land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. This light does not touch us, does not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the colour blue.”

As for Ivy, her middle name, the moniker was reportedly inspired by Beyonce’s deep personal connection to the number four and the Roman numeral IV, which equates to four.

Brooklyn Carter. Blueberry Carter. Blue Ivy Carter. In the multiverse of celebrity baby names, the possibilities are endless. Whether she’d been born Brooklyn or not, though, one thing is clear: Blue Ivy is a star just like the rest of the Carter-Knowles family.

Blue Ivy Secretly Thinks JAY-Z Is Cool . . . According to JAY-Z

    [ad_1]

All dads have their embarrassing moments. Yes, even JAY-Z. In a recent interview with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings,” however, the proud dad of three claimed that his oldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, only pretends to be embarrassed by him in public. At home, she actually thinks her dad is pretty cool. In fact, JAY-Z says the 11-year-old even asks him for fashion advice from time to time.

“Blue, she be frontin’ on me a little bit.”

“Blue, she be frontin’ on me a little bit, but I catch her,” he said. “I catch her in the corner, you know? Now she asks me if this is cool — her sneakers or whatever she’s wearing.” While Blue Ivy wasn’t around to refute her dad’s claims, she does appear to have taken some major style cues from both her parents in recent years.

Take, for example, when the father-daughter duo attended the 2022 NBA Finals in San Francisco last year. For the outing, Blue Ivy wore low-top Nike Dunk sneakers, sweatpants, a black leather jacket, and a “Brown Skin Girl” T-shirt from mom Beyoncé’s merch line. JAY-Z complemented his daughter’s look in an all-black outfit and white sneakers. The preteen also spent some quality time with her dad at the 2023 Super Bowl in February, during which the pair wore all-black ensembles and matching sunglasses.

At the NBA finals, they went viral after JAY-Z wrapped his arm around Blue Ivy on the jumbotron and pulled her in for a kiss on the cheek. Embarrassed by her dad, the preteen rolled her eyes and subtly attempted to pull away as JAY-Z smiled for the camera. Though Blue Ivy does try to call her dad out when he’s making her feel awkward, JAY-Z told King he’s learned to make a case for himself: “I’m cool. I don’t know what you saying. At your house, your parents is cool.”

Since their NBA outing, Blue Ivy has been busy guest starring as a backup dancer on her mom’s “Renaissance” Tour. While performing in Dubai in January, the mother-daughter duo performed “Brown Skin Girl” together. Blue Ivy also broke out some impressive choreography before sharing a sweet embrace with her mom on stage.

Though Blue Ivy might say otherwise, it seems like having JAY-Z and Beyoncé as parents is pretty cool after all.

  • Allison Williams Is Still Taking Style Cues From Her Onscreen Rival, M3GAN

Allison Williams Is Still Taking Style Cues From Her Onscreen Rival, M3GAN

    [ad_1]

Allison Williams served horror-movie haute couture during a stroll through New York City on Oct. 25. Following the viral success of director Gerard Johnstone’s “M3gan,” in which Williams plays the malevolent doll’s rival, fans have been taking style cues from the fashionable AI robot. In the film, M3GAN unleashes her vengeance on dozens of unsuspecting victims, and she does it all in patent-leather Mary Janes and a peplum silhouette. After months of filming, her chic sense of style appears to have rubbed off on Williams, and something about the preppy ensemble has us envisioning a whole collection of M3GAN-inspired outfits.

Putting a M3GAN-core twist on some of our favorite fall fashion trends, Williams stepped out in a Brunello Cucinelli Giacca double-breasted leather blazer, which retails for $8,400, layered over a white button-up shirt and a sequin necktie. She styled the brown leather blazer with a plaid miniskirt, sheer tights, and pointed-toe pumps in a rich chocolate shade. Even her manicure reflected the autumnal tones.

For those who haven’t had the pleasure of watching the comedy-infused horror film, “M3GAN” closely follows the eponymous AI robot as she attempts to pick off the human race one by one. Even as she’s coaxing her next victim into the forest to meet their unfortunate end, the doll manages to keep her peplum coat and hand-polished shoes looking pristine. As a children’s plaything, she is lethal; but as a horror-movie fashion idol, M3GAN’s wardrobe is a lesson in the power of simplicity, which Williams has executed perfectly.

Falling heavily in line with the traditional prep and school-girl aesthetics, M3GAN-core is all about attention to detail. From an artful pair of tinted sunglasses to a set of leather driving gloves that beg the question “Can M3GAN drive?,” the AI doll’s wardrobe is stacked with luxe accessories. Like the carefully curated pieces that round out M3GAN’s costumes, Williams’s sleek heels and shimmering necktie feel purposeful in their styling and invoke the idea that — dangerous AI bot or not — a quality coat never goes out of style.

Julia Fox’s Handbag Collection Is Out of Control

    [ad_1]

In the right hands, a handbag is more than an accessory. For Julia Fox, whose eccentric outfits and revealing-streetwear moments push the limits of fashion, a handbag is never an afterthought — in some cases, it’s the defining piece of the outfit. From a clutch made out of human hair to a six-foot body bag, Fox has reimagined the functional accessory. As a result, we can’t help but select our memorable favorites in her collection.

Most recently, Fox meant business when she hit the pavement in New York City with a comically large briefcase purse in hand. The brown leather briefcase perfectly complemented her knee-high stiletto boots, which she paired with an oversize blazer and a matching tweed skirt in gray. As soon as photos of Fox’s business-casual look hit social media, fans were quick to speculate about what Fox might have been carrying in the massive briefcase. Sketches outlining her next showstopping outfit? Her head-turning garment-bag dress? Latex and duct tape in case she needs to craft a new ensemble on the spot?

Beyond the briefcase, Fox’s expansive handbag collection includes purses in all styles. In May, she effortlessly strutted down the sidewalk in an outfit made entirely of condoms, with a handbag to match. At the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, Fox wore a black evening gown and a clutch made out of human hair. After sneaking a peak at her wardrobe, it’s clear that, regardless of the occasion, Fox has an ensemble ready to go and a handbag to match.

  • The Controversial Peplum Trend Is Back With a Vengeance This Fall

The Controversial Peplum Trend Is Back With a Vengeance This Fall

    [ad_1]

If you kept up with style trends in the 2010s, you probably had a peplum top you paired with skinny jeans and ballet flats. (We don’t blame you. We did, too.) From peplum blouses to dresses and skirts, the dramatic silhouette was everywhere. Now, over a decade later, the controversial fashion trend is making a comeback thanks to celebrities like Florence Pugh, Gabrielle Union, Angela Bassett, and Harry Styles, who aren’t afraid to air out the retro ruffles one more time.

Notably, Union delivered a unique take on the trend in a Schiaparelli corset jumpsuit during a night out in Los Angeles on Oct. 13. The olive-green piece, designed by Daniel Roseberry, featured a gold three-button closure at the waist and seashell-inspired pleating along the bust. Union styled the plunging outfit, which flared at the hips, with a gold-and-silver statement choker and square-toe chrome heels.

Like flared jeans, the exaggerated peplum silhouette has elicited varied reactions from fashion lovers worldwide. Those in favor of the peplum trend often praise its ability to accentuate the smallest part of the waist — à la corset tops — and add volume to the hips. Those opposed to the dramatic design most frequently cite the wilted fabric that, when draped haphazardly, can end up looking messy at best and like a wrinkled bedsheet tucked into the waist at worst. Modern takes on the throwback look, though, boast one key difference: structure.

Most recently, designers such as Armani Privé, Viktor & Rolf, Givenchy, Dior, and Prabal Gurung have all showcased peplum silhouettes in runway shows, proving that the trend’s return is more than just a sartorial phenomenon. By using stiffer fabrics and incorporating seasonal trends like sheer fabrics and sequins, these designers and more have managed to manipulate the peplum trend, reforming it into something fresher and more digestible for a 2023 audience.

Though we often associate it with the 2010s, the peplum trend dates as far back as ancient Greece, where people of all genders used the cinched waist and extended hips to emphasize an hourglass silhouette, according to MasterClass. The style gained even more popularity during the Renaissance era, which boasted detailed corset bodices attached to full skirts that extended at the waist. Today, the peplum style is romantic and experimental all at once, pressing the boundaries of what it means to be haute couture.

Considering some of our favorite fashion trends this year have been some of the most unusual — see thong boots and seven-inch platforms — we have hope that the peplum trend, as controversial as it is, will be leaving its mark the second time around.

Ahead, see how celebrities like Union, Anne Hathaway, and Anitta have been putting their own spin on the peplum trend.

Something supernatural is in the air this Halloween, and it might be lurking closer than you think. In preparation for the spooky holiday, Etsy sellers have introduced glow-in-the-dark ghost earrings in multiple varieties. Made of clay, resin, and other incandescent materials, each set of earrings creates the illusion of your face being haunted by a set of miniature phantoms. While they don’t levitate on their own, the spirits can illuminate any fall outfit, making them perfect for a moonlit stroll through the pumpkin patch or a last-minute venture into a haunted house.

As you get to work on preparing your elaborate costumes, keep in mind these ghost earrings add a bewitching touch to even the simplest cold-weather ensemble. One pair boasts a pair of ghosts trapped in glass bottles à la “Ghostbusters,” while a more classic set of ghost earrings glows bright green like each spirit is dripping in ectoplasm. Another set of jewelry shows a Polaroid of Barbara and Adam from “Beetlejuice” clad in their signature bedsheets.

What to Wear to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Movie, According to Swifties

    [ad_1]

The friendship bracelets were just the beginning. For months, Taylor Swift fans have been churning out bejeweled ensembles left and right on the Eras Tour. Now, the singer’s concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which premiered on Oct. 13, is giving fans the opportunity to turn a trip to the movies into a red carpet event.

The Eras Tour concert movie is the perfect excuse for Swifties to pay homage to their favorite Swift albums, songs, and eras of the singer-songwriter’s fashion evolution. For “Folklore” fans, crimson and amber cardigans paired with black miniskirts and tights only feel fitting, especially given the fall aesthetic that celebrities, including Swift, have been wearing all season long; for “Midnights” fans, there’s no such thing as too much sparkle; and for devoted “Reputation”-lovers, black leather with silver accents is the way to go.

While the movie has inspired some fans to piece together elaborate outfits inspired by Swift’s tour outfits, others are taking a more comfortable approach. Taking a page from Swift in her “You Belong With Me” video, several fans are showing up in gingham pajama pants and homemade white T-shirts that read “Junior Jewels” in marker. Of course, each shirt is unique, and like the beaded friendship bracelets that have become a staple at Swift’s concerts, they give Swifties another opportunity to show off their creative side.

For the film’s world premiere, fans wasted no time showing their sartorial love for the singer. “I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS REAL LIFEEEEE,” one person captioned a video of what they planned to wear on the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” red carpet in Los Angeles on Oct. 11. On social media, fans who weren’t able to attend the exclusive event also posted pictures of the outfits they would have worn to the premiere. For her part, Swift arrived in a cutout floral gown by Oscar de la Renta.

Whether your look is a tribute to Swift’s early days as a country singer, her most recent pop hits, or a mashup of her entire discography, there’s no shortage of outfit options. After all, at the end of the day, whatever your wear is going to shimmer alongside the Eras Tour popcorn buckets.

Cool Dad Will Ferrell Fills in as Surprise DJ at a USC Frat Party

    [ad_1]

It’s Will Ferrell’s party, and we’re all invited. On Oct. 7, the actor made a surprise appearance as guest DJ at a Sigma Alpha Mu frat party at the University of Southern California, his alma mater. Getting the party started ahead of the football team’s game against the University of Arizona, Ferrell hopped behind the turntables and blasted a medley of hits, including “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor and “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers. Ferrell also played “N— in Paris” by Jay-Z and Kanye West, which features a clip of his “Blades of Glory” character Chazz saying, “No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative.”

At one point, Ferrell even took his hands off the turntables to operate a fog cannon as he bobbed his head along to the music. Around him, college students danced, sang along, and, of course, recorded the unforgettable moment on their phones. Even with video evidence, however, the fact that the four-time Emmy winner would suddenly appear at a college event to show off his DJ skills feels a little surreal.

How did he land the gig? Did he bring his own DJ equipment? What will he do next: deliver pizza to the dorms? Start a flash mob in the quad? Fill in as an adjunct professor? Once the novelty of the situation sinks in, though, we can’t help but admit that hosting a surprise DJ set is incredibly fitting for someone as lovably eccentric as Ferrell.

Considering Ferrell’s oldest son Magnus is a sophomore at USC, it makes sense that his impromptu DJ set coincided with USC’s Parents Weekend. But Ferrell has actually been a regular at the university since he graduated in 1990. During his time at USC, he studied sports broadcasting and joined the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Since graduating with a BA degree in sports information, he’s remained an active alumn; he delivered the class of 2017 commencement speech, which he ended with a rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”

Beyond banging on the drums in “Step Brothers” and joining an international music competition in “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,” Ferrell — who is often confused with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith — continues to pursue his musical talents in other ways. For instance, in 2022, the proud dad crashed Magnus’s first live performance with his band by jumping in to play the cowbell, a reference to one of his most memorable “Saturday Night Live” sketches. Needless to say, we have a feeling this DJ set won’t be his last.

Ahead, see Ferrell’s DJ set at USC for yourself.

Somewhere in Los Angeles, the wind picked up and sent the autumn leaves swirling as Olivia Rodrigo stepped out in a black maxi skirt and a sleeveless sweater vest. In a TikTok video posted on Oct. 4, Rodrigo embraced the cozy fall fashion trend while parodying her songwriting process. Between frantic typing and sped-up guitar playing, the singer showed off her crimson vest from all angles. Eager to replicate Rodrigo’s look, we tracked down the Urban Outfitters design, and it’s surprisingly affordable.

Rodrigo’s Santorini Buttoned Sweater Vest is $45 and features a five-button design that makes it perfect for layering as the warm days transition into fall weather. Rodrigo styled the piece as is with the top of the vest unbuttoned, a chic but casual styling choice. Comfy without being too restricting, the sleeveless sweater also looks like it would pair nicely with a long-sleeve shirt and high-waisted jeans, a floor-length dress, or a miniskirt and tights. The sweater vest is also available in three other fall-friendly colors, including navy-and-cream argyle, lavender-and-olive argyle, and black.

While we couldn’t see Rodrigo’s footwear, lug-sole loafers or ballet flats feel like an appropriate way to complete the classy look. For her quick jam session, the singer tied the outfit together with dark jewelry and her “Guts”-inspired black nail polish. The finished ensemble is decidedly preppy while still evoking the rock and roll edge that has defined her “Guts” aesthetic for the last several months.

As we search for more unique sweaters to fill our fall wardrobes, Rodrigo’s vest will definitely be top of mind. Ahead, see Rodrigo enjoy her comfy-girl era and shop her exact sweater vest before it’s gone.

  • GloRilla Honors Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes With BET Hip Hop Awards Outfit

GloRilla Honors Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes With BET Hip Hop Awards Outfit

    [ad_1]

The year was 1999. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes shimmied, arms raised, down the red carpet at the Source Hip Hop Music Awards. Her outfit: head-to-toe brown suede featuring a fur skirt with a thigh-high slit. More than two decades later, GloRilla reimagined Lopes’s ensemble at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards on Oct. 3 in Atlanta. A clear homage to the late TLC member, GloRilla’s outfit featured a crisscross halter top and a similar floor-length fur skirt. She styled the ’90s-inspired look with black boots, gold earrings, and a space-bun hairstyle.

TLC — consisting of Lopes, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins — were pioneers of ’90s fashion, setting trends in everything from baggy jeans and overalls to chromed-out bikini tops. In fact, at the time of her passing, Lopes was working on a pajama line in collaboration with Kyle Young, according to an interview with Wendy Williams in 2000. Now, 21 years after Lopes’s unfortunate death in a car accident, GloRilla’s outfit serves as a reminder that the rapper’s impact has not been forgotten.

Lopes’s original look featured a tawny-brown suede crop top with a crisscross halter neckline, a lace-up bust, and oversize cargo pockets on either side of the chest. Past her exposed midriff, Lopes continued the monochrome look in a voluminous fur skirt with silk lining and a suede waistband. She completed the unique outfit with a pair of knee-high, square-toe boots and drop earrings.

Replicating Lopes’s design, GloRilla strutted down the red carpet in a chocolate crisscross halter top and a textured fur skirt. Similar to Lopes’s, Glorilla’s skirt featured a strip of fabric around the waist mirroring her top. The skirt also included a thigh-high slit that exposed her pointed-toe boots. Though GloRilla’s color scheme was noticeably darker than the original, her outfit was a beautiful nod to Lopes from every angle. GloRilla even took a moment to pose for the camera with her arms outstretched, just like Lopes did.

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

If there’s one thing Taylor Swift knows about game day, it’s that no outfit is complete without a sleek pair of New Balance sneakers. While cheering on Travis Kelce at a Kansas City Chiefs game on Sept. 24, Swift wore a white cropped tank top by Dôen, Ksubi distressed denim shorts, a Chiefs windbreaker, and a pair of red-and-white 550 New Balance sneakers. On Oct. 3, Swift was again spotted in a pair of New Balances — this time the Ganni x New Balance 1906R sneaker — during a stroll through New York City. She styled the shoes with black bike shorts, a Still Here New York Dad Cap, a Louis Vuitton camera box bag, and an oversize Shania Twain t-shirt from Free People.

Since making her public debut with Kelce on Sept. 24, Swift has seemingly adopted a sports-centric wardrobe with a focus on athleisure pieces like sweatshirts and running shoes. The shift in her style has been so noticeable, in fact, that sales for the 550 New Balance sneaker increased by 25 percent in the week following her game-day appearance, according to Complex. Notably, the sneakers first made their debut in 1989, making them a possible nod to “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” her upcoming rerecorded album.

Joined by celebrity friends — including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Brittany Mahomes, and Sophie Turner — Swift attended another Chiefs game on Oct 1. This time, the star arrived in a pair of Area embellished denim shorts, an opulent upgrade from the traditional game day sweats and joggers. She completed the look with a black long-sleeved crewneck shirt, a Gant Studio leather shirt, and Christian Louboutin knee-high boots in place of her usual sneakers.

Like her Eras tour closet, Swift’s game-day wardrobe is scoring major style points from every angle, including her footwear. Shop Swift’s exact New Balance sneakers ahead.

  • Jordyn Woods Twins With Her Mom and Sister in Sheer Outfits at Fashion Week

Jordyn Woods Twins With Her Mom and Sister in Sheer Outfits at Fashion Week

    [ad_1]

Jordyn Woods turned Fashion Week into a family affair on Sept. 18. While attending the Chet Lo show in London, the model, her younger sister Jodie, and their mother Elizabeth Woods looked like triplets in a set of sheer outfits from the designer’s spring 2023 collection. Inspired by the skin of a durian fruit, each ensemble was covered in hundreds of miniature spikes that added some playful texture.

Jordyn was the most vibrant of the trio in a tangerine cardigan and matching midi skirt. She layered the crop top over a white bralette, which paired beautifully with her pointed-toe pumps. The 25-year-old star completed the outfit with an oversize sunhat also adorned with the brand’s signature spiky design, hoop earrings, and sunglasses with gold frames.

Jodie complemented her sister’s look in a Y2K-inspired outfit: a lavender quilted miniskirt, fingerless gloves, and a sheer turtleneck. Following the rule of thirds, she tied the outfit together with a pair of knee-high boots that reflected the same barbed pattern as her top. Elizabeth looked equally stunning in an asymmetrical evening gown with a single sleeve. Unlike her daughters, she opted for more comfortable footwear, styling the cerulean dress with pastel sneakers. Together, the trio looked like models in their own runway show.

On Sept. 17, Jordyn and her family also wore coordinated looks while attending the MAC Cosmetics show at Fashion Week. JOrdyn served class in an ankle-length pencil skirt, black blazer, chrome accessories, and unique top crafted out of layered belts. Elizabeth mirrored her daughter in a leather maxi skirt with a knee-high zipper slit, a wrap top, a black blazer, and a baseball cap. Jodie brought the mother-daughter matching moment full circle in a leather co-ord set designed to mimic a dark denim wash. She styled the look with black pointed heels and a leather jacket, which she wore off her shoulders.

  • TikTok Star April Lockhart Is Expanding the World of Adaptive Fashion

TikTok Star April Lockhart Is Expanding the World of Adaptive Fashion

    [ad_1]

Until recently, adaptive fashion — specially designed clothing for people who have difficulty dressing themselves — has been little more than a legend in the disabled community. Thanks to fashion content creators like April Lockhart, however, conversations surrounding the need for accessible fashion have transcended the hypothetical realm of “maybe someday.” In making their voices heard, Lockhart and her fellow disabled fashion influencers have laid the groundwork for an adaptive fashion revolution.

A self-described “disabled fashion girlie,” Lockhart, who was born with amniotic band syndrome, has spent nearly two years fostering an online community for disabled people to share their stories in the context of fashion. “Disabilities are so different within the sphere of the disabled community,” Lockhart tells POPSUGAR. “My disability can be so vastly different than someone else’s, which is cool because we can relate on the common ground that we share something different. But also, I can learn so much about what they’re going through; they can learn what I’m going through.”

“Now, in general, I’m very open and comfortable with my hand and my body.”

After years of hiding her limb difference from her followers, Lockhart challenged herself to step outside of her comfort zone. In January 2022, she started her series “Normalizing Disabled Fashion Girlies,” which aimed to promote disability pride through a fashion lens.

“[It] sort of stemmed out of this personal itch I’d been having for a while,” she says. “I was born with a limb difference; I don’t have my fully formed left hand, and [the series] was kind of birthed out of New Year’s resolutions.” For many social media users who came across her content, simply seeing someone with a disability in the fashion space was new. Still, the comments Lockhart received were overwhelmingly positive. “Now, in general, I’m very open and comfortable with my hand and my body,” she adds.

Since launching that series, Lockhart’s social media platform has become a safe space for conversations about disability pride. She continues, “That kind of launched me into a new season of life and confidence in general, and it’s been a cool journey for me to be on. I’m sure that anybody can relate to the fact that self-esteem is such a journey and we go through waves of feeling comfortable with ourselves and then feeling like we’re starting all over again. I think that’s just being human.”

Personally, the connections Lockhart has made as a result of her online candor have been invaluable. Professionally, her platform has given her opportunities to influence the scope of adaptive fashion, a long-term objective she’s eager to see through.

    April Lockhart

While adaptive clothing does exist in niche retail spaces, function largely takes precedence over fashion. For avid shoppers in the disabled community — for whom little beats the thrill of securing a sleek, new pair of Doc Martens or the perfect pair of denim — the joy of finding a sartorial treasure can often be spoiled if the pieces they’re searching for aren’t adaptive. Of course, for some, there are a few workarounds. “I, at the end of the day, will always go for fashion over function,” Lockhart says. “I will figure out a way; I will make my husband button the dress for me if it’s the dress I want; I will find a way to wear it.”

“I think some of the swaps are easier than people think, and then you’re not sacrificing the style.”

Lockhart’s TikTok and Instagram videos support this resolve for style. In between takes of herself trying on kaleidoscopic dresses or thrifted sweaters, her husband’s hands occasionally pop into the frame to assist with a zipper or an inconveniently placed clasp. Some people, though, require varying levels of assistance to get dressed, which is where adaptive clothing comes into play.

Adaptive clothing is not a new concept. For decades, specialized brands have created clothing with more accessible features: velcro closures instead of buttons, magnetic closures, tagless clothing, one-handed zippers, shoes without laces, and pieces made from sensitive fabrics. But while adaptive clothing like this can be tracked down, it’s not readily available at mainstream retailers. This means many people in the disabled community do not have access to this clothing, and those that do have strong feelings about the medical look and feel of the garments.

“I would love to be in the rooms [with designers], trying things on and saying, ‘This doesn’t really work,’ or ‘This does work,’ or ‘This makes my life a lot easier,’” Lockhart says of developing clothing that is both functional and fashionable. “I think the thing that most of the disabled community can resonate with, too, is we’ve figured things out over the years on our own for sure, but there are definitely ways to make things a lot easier.”

Though brands have had decades to reshape their sales models to be more intentionally inclusive of the disabled community, little progress has been made. Some notable brands — including Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive, UGG and Zappos Adaptive, Aerie, and Skims — have made strides in the adaptive fashion industry, but, as Lockhart points out, “there’s always room for improvement.”

“There’s a huge part of the disabled community that loves fashion,” says Lockhart, who made her runway debut while wearing Victoria’s Secret at Runway of Dreams during New York Fashion Week this September. “I think some of the swaps are easier than people think, and then you’re not sacrificing the style.”

In terms of immediate next steps, Lockhart hopes to see more big-name fashion brands adopt a business model that considers disabled people in every aspect of product development. By naturally integrating disabled models in marketing ads and runway shows, retailers can take the first step to becoming part of the adaptive fashion conversation. Additionally, Lockhart says, clothing brands can provide adaptive alternatives to existing staple pieces and release capsule collections made in smaller quantities to meet the needs of their disabled shoppers.

“They can take pieces that we’re all wearing anyway and find ways to make easy, adaptive swaps,” Lockhart says. “I would love to see brands put the effort into it, and I think I’m seeing a few brands start to have those conversations behind the scenes. Maybe it’s six months or a year from now, but I think we’ll start to see it more.”

  • Winnie Harlow Shimmers in a Fringe Minidress With a Boob-Window Cutout

Winnie Harlow Shimmers in a Fringe Minidress With a Boob-Window Cutout

    [ad_1]

Vogue World: London was not ready for Winnie Harlow. As dozens of celebrities said farewell to New York Fashion Week on Sept. 14, Harlow was 3,500 miles away in quite the party dress. With a backless silhouette and boob-window cutout, the fuzzy dress, designed by Cult Naked, was covered in technicolor fringe that shimmered as she strutted past the paparazzi in her translucent Barbie-foot heels.

Harlow, who recently debuted a new pixie cut, looked incredible as she hit the party with a chrome handbag on her arm. The model’s see-through shoes featured bedazzled ankle straps that glistened from every angle and beautifully complemented her dress. Playing with texture, the fuzzy outfit boasted layers of multi-hued fringe in shades of blue, purple, and pink.

From the front, the halter-neck dress called attention to the bodice with a massive boob-window cutout in the shape of a teardrop. From behind, a set of criss-crossed black straps held the revealing ensemble in place. Harlow kept the sparkling theme going with a set of diamond drop earrings and a matching statement ring.

Earlier in the day, Harlow arrived at the event in a low-cut evening gown from Zuhair Murad’s fall 2023 couture collection. In contrast to the all-black silhouette, the design featured a voluminous, cape-like collar that doubled as a train on the red carpet. She styled the stunning, couture gown with silver jewelry and velvet evening gloves. Paired with her second look of the night, it’s clear that Harlow was living the best of both worlds.

Even as cooler weather approaches, Harlow is among many celebrities who continue to nail the cutout trend regardless of the occasion. Other stars who have incorporated cutouts into their wardrobe recently include Issa Rae in a boob-window cutout design at the “Barbie” premiere in July and Brie Larson in a romantic, ab-window slip dress by Rodarte. Celebrities like Heidi Klum and Lori Harvey have also gotten creative with hip cutouts on the red carpet, while Bebe Rexha recently took it a step further with purposefully placed butt cutouts at the MTV VMAs.

  • Heidi Klum Gives Summer a Stylish Send-Off in an Illusion Bikini Dress

Heidi Klum Gives Summer a Stylish Send-Off in an Illusion Bikini Dress

    [ad_1]

Heidi Klum isn’t afraid to break a few rules when it comes to fashion. For a Sept. 12 taping of “America’s Got Talent,” Klum arrived wearing the viral Jean Paul Gaultier illusion bikini dress. Rather than style the sheer outfit with strappy sandals or colorful stilettos, however, the model boldly paired the $600 dress with a casual pair of flip-flops. Letting the gown speak for itself, Klum kept her accessories simple, opting for a pair of black sunglasses and a matching shoulder bag.

Upon closer inspection, the model’s casual shoes were also designer: Klum’s Christian Louboutin flip-flops featured red soles and black tops, just like the iconic pumps the brand is known for. Taking the accessory a step further, the shoes also featured black rhinestone embellishments along the foot straps. Paired with her runway-ready look, Klum’s shoes were anything but casual after all.

Still, she may be the first celebrity to style the dress with beach-friendly footwear, a surprising realization considering the design boasts a printed bikini across the front and back. The gown’s elongated circular pattern is meant to create the illusion of a heat signature illuminating a body in a bikini.

The mock-neck design and long sleeves, however, allow the maxi dress to double as a cover-up, which is exactly how Klum styled the piece. Beneath the see-through fabric, the model wore a black bra and a white leopard-print thong that was clearly visible beneath the silhouette of her faux bikini. Layered on top of one another, the garments created a mesmerizing look that has us hoping for a few more beach days before fall.

Last month, Klum was spotted wearing a plunging party dress for a girls’ night out with her fellow “AGT” judge Sofía Vergara. Once again demonstrating her love for animal prints, Klum wore a leopard-print dress with a cleavage-baring neckline and a pair of printed Louboutin pumps. Meanwhile, Vergara strutted alongside Klum in a strapless green midi dress and a strappy pair of Louboutin sandals.

Ahead, see Klum’s captivating Jean Paul Gaultier dress from all angles.
