Canada’s Christine Sinclair will play her final international match tonight against Australia. She has played 20 seasons with the senior national team, has been to six FIFA World Cups and played in four Olympic games. Sinclair is an Olympic gold medallist, two-time Olympic bronze medallist, CONCACAF champion, and 14-time winner of the Canada Soccer Player of the Year award. She is the all-time leading goal scorer in international soccer with 190 goals (Ronaldo only has 128). She is also the second player to score at five World Cups (the first was Brazil’s Marta).
Tonight in her honour BC Place where the game is being held has been renamed Christine Sinclair Place. December 12th has also been named Christine Sinclair Day in her home province of British Columbia.
Sinclair still plays for the Portland Thorns and is currently working on the creation of a Canadian Women’s Soccer League that is set to have its first season in 2025.

idk if anyone else here loves CANWNT but Christine deserves a post! She has done so much to elevate women’s sport and I’m so excited to see what happens with the new women’s league! I highly recommend watching the interview with her and CBC, it’s so good!
