Shania Twain’s attire at the People’s Choice Awards, a hooded leopard-print Rodarte dress, evoked her iconic outfit from 1998’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much”. But those who have followed Twain know she never left leopard print behind. In a recent interview with Elle (below), she affirmed, “Leopard print is my ‘no-fail neutral.’ You can dress it up, you can dress it down. It is a staple print because you can put leopard on velvet or chiffon or sheer or silk. It belongs everywhere, from haute couture to a girl out riding a horse with her leopard-print cowboy hat. You can have so much fun with leopard print. It’s hyper flexible.”
That’s not the only leopard print she’s featured recently. An Instagram video posted last week showed the Queen of Country Pop roaming around town in a leopard mini-dress and jacket.
While Twain prepares for an album release and tour in 2023, I look forward to seeing what creative directions she takes her signature print. As she assured Elle, “I don’t always get it right. Except for leopard print—that I do get right.”
