Selena Gomez is living her best life… despite all that online drama she’s found herself in!
On Thursday, the actress took to her Instagram to share what she’s been up to this week! While Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner have been facing brutal backlash after seemingly displaying some mean girl behavior, it turns out Selly G’s been tuning out the drama by spending time with family!

While sharing a series of snapshots of her time fishing with her little sister Gracie Teefey and maternal grandfather David Michael Cornett, she expressed:
“Texas girl at heart. Cali girl for fun and NY gal for the real. Grateful, thankful and blessed lady!”

Guess Hailey wasn’t the only one who thought this drama was the perfect excuse to get away! We have a feeling Selena’s day on the water was a LOT more relaxing than Justin Bieber‘s wife’s time in Cabo, considering she’s the one dealing with most of the backlash. Speaking of the drama, doesn’t it kinda seem like Selena’s caption could be subtly thanking her fans for all their support over the last week?! Sure seems like that “grateful” sentiment might have a double meaning to us!
As we’ve been following, the internet rallied around the Only Murders in the Building star after Hailey and Kylie seemingly made fun of her beauty mishap on socials last week. Since then, amateur sleuths have been uncovering tons of evidence that they think proves the models have been out to get the Disney Channel alum for years, including a potentially VERY sketchy invitation to Dubai for New Year’s Eve in 2014.

Amid all of the controversy, the 30-year-old singer has stayed fairly quiet. She initially took to social media to shut down rumors that she and The Kardashians star were fighting after Kylie seemed to diss Sel for accidentally laminating her eyebrows too much. When her comments didn’t help defuse the feud speculation, she announced she’d be taking a break from the interwebs, saying on a TikTok live:
“I’m going to be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly. I’m 30 and I am too old for this. But I love you so much and I’ll see you guys sooner than later. I’m just gonna take a break from everything.”
Fans have continued to show their loyalty by following the Wizards of Waverly Place alum in droves — making her the most followed female on Instagram with 392 million followers at this time. Incredible! Meanwhile, the Kylie Cosmetics and Rhode Skin founders have each lost about a million followers. Oof! Very problematic for the two influencers whose livelihoods are largely based on their online fan bases!
Selena’s growing supporters were thrilled to see her return. Commenting on the fishing snapshots, they wrote:
