Rob McElhenney is reflecting on his, relatively new, friendship with Ryan Reynolds.

In a new interview with People, the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor is calling Ryan an ‘inspiration’.

Rob spoke to the outlet just recently, ahead of a Wrexham FC match, about working with Ryan.

According to him, they actually didn’t even know each other three years ago.

“I consider him one of my closest friends, and I didn’t even know him three years ago,” Rob says, before adding that Ryan is a “kind and generous soul, and somebody you can rely on. He’s such an inspiration.”

Rob also said that their friendship goes beyond just them and their families now have a strong bond, too.

“Our families have grown incredibly close, and even though we live on opposite coasts, we feel like we’re right next to each other.”

Rob and Ryan‘s Wrexham FC journey was also immortalized in a Netflix documentary.

Just recently, Rob opened up about being diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities as an adult.
