Dorit Kemsley and her husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley, have welcomed a new puppy into their home.
Years after Dorit was accused of abandoning a puppy she adopted from Lisa Vanderpump‘s West Hollywood animal rescue center, Vanderpump Dogs, which launched the scandal that became known as “Puppy Gate,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member took to her Instagram page with a video of her family’s new addition, Pumpkin.
“Holidays came a little early in this house … Welcome to the family, Pumpkin! We love you so much!” Dorit said in the caption of her December 4 video, which featured her two children, Jagger, 8, and Phoenix, 6, playing with the pooch.
Dorit also shared a video of herself holding the animal while wearing a black and white checkered blazer and a black choker.
News of Dorit’s family’s new puppy comes years after she reportedly gave the dog she adopted from Vanderpump Dogs, a chihuahua named Lucy Lucy Apple Juicy, to another woman, who proceeded to drop it off at a kill shelter.
Luckily for Lucy, after she was located at the shelter via a detection chip, the pup found new owners, Zandria Theis and Reed Thompson, and has been with them ever since. And luckily for viewers of RHOBH, they have been able to keep up with the “honorary housewife” (as her Instagram bio describes her) through regular social media updates. The latest update featured a birthday post for Lucy.
“IT’S MY BURTHDAY!! My pawrents got me my favorite treats and a birthday cake to celebrate! Here’s to being 5 whole years old!” read the caption of a November 29 post on Instagram.
While Lucy’s story had a happy ending, fans still weren’t happy to see that Dorit got a new dog and took to the comments section of her video to share their thoughts.
“Not another Lucy,” one person said.
“FYI— dogs are like a 12-15 year commitment. Hopefully, Pumpkin isn’t just a ‘right now choice’ but a lifelong family member,” wrote another.
“Are you going to get rid of this one too?” wondered a third.
Many of Dorit’s fans and followers were upset that she appeared to have gotten Pumpkin from a puppy store or mill rather than help out a dog in need by adopting.
“Hopefully, this one won’t end up in a shelter,” someone else added.
