Former President Donald Trump is no longer the commander in chief, but a recent Facebook post suggests that he still controls the U.S. Marine Corps.

“BREAKING,” the Feb. 27 post says. “Trump preps Marines to stop presidential coup. DoD approves activation on American soil.”

This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

The nearly six-minute video in the Facebook post sheds no light on the caption.

For about half of the video, the host of a conservative YouTube channel talks about mainstream media coverage of a January 2017 military raid in Yemen that left a U.S. Navy SEAL dead. In the second half, he tries to sell viewers on a discount code for an oversized teddy bear as a Valentine’s Day gift.

There’s no mention of Trump rallying Marines to stop a coup.

We found no evidence this claim is true. We rate this post False.
