Very unfortunate news has just been revealed: Pete Davidson‘s episode of Saturday Night Live is officially canceled.
The fan fave former SNL star was returning for the first time since his 2022 departure from the late night variety show to host in support of his new Peacock series, Bupkis.

Because of the writers strike that is currently happening, NBC has announced that SNL will air repeat episodes going forward, until further notice. The WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) called for a strike, beginning today, meaning so many shows including Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver and Bill Maher‘s late night shows will all air repeats as well.
The WGA said that its 11,500 unionized screenwriters will head to the picket lines on Tuesday afternoon.
“The companies’ behavior has created a gig economy inside a union workforce, and their immovable stance in this negotiation has betrayed a commitment to further devaluing the profession of writing,” the WGA said in a statement, per the AP.
“From their refusal to guarantee any level of weekly employment in episodic television, to the creation of a ‘day rate’ in comedy variety, to their stonewalling on free work for screenwriters and on AI for all writers, they have closed the door on their labor force and opened the door to writing as an entirely freelance profession. No such deal could ever be contemplated by this membership,” the statement read.
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which negotiates on behalf of studios and production companies, said it offered “generous increases” in compensation.
The last writers strike happened in 2007 and lasted 100 days, greatly impacting scripted content.
One SNL cast member reacted to the strike news, telling Deadline, “We have to think about our crew too. I absolutely support the writers, and I want the writers to get what they deserve and need, but I don’t want our crew to be out of work. We can’t make this art without each other.”
