Firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department and El Dorado Hills Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire involving a garage.

According to officials, the fire started at a house located on Traylen Court at around 10:08 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found smoke emanating from a fire that appeared to have originated in the garage.

Firefighters checked the home to ensure it was evacuated and quickly initiated a fire attack. Two pets were located in the home and were safely removed from the structure.

City of Folsom officials said there was significant damage that occurred to the garage and two vehicles, but an aggressive fire attack prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure.

A responding firefighter did sustain minor injuries and was taken to the hospital to be evaluated and was later released. At this time, there have been no reports of any injuries.

“The City of Folsom Fire Department reminds everyone to ensure all bedrooms have working smoke detectors,” city officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
