(FOX40.COM) — The Modesto Police Department responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle collision at Yosemite Boulevard and Phoenix Avenue, Saturday morning.

Around 9:34 a.m. officers located two individuals from the motorcycle in the roadway, and both were transported to a local hospital. One of the riders reportedly passed despite extensive lifesaving efforts, according to MPD.
Police reported that evidence revealed the pickup truck made a northbound turn onto Phoenix Avenue, directly in front of the westbound motorcycle, causing the collision, MPD said.
The truck driver was identified as a 61-year-old man from Modesto, according to MPD. He remained on scene and displayed signs of intoxication, and was arrested for DUI following the investigation.
The driver was booked on charges of murder, vehicular manslaughter and DUI with injury, officials said.
