The Gun Violence Archive has counted at least 609 mass shootings so far this year, through mid-November. Of those shootings, 21 involved five or more fatalities, including an attack at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Va., on Nov. 22, and a shooting at a L.G.B.T.Q. nightclub in on Nov. 19 that left five people dead.
