When I was younger, it didn’t take much convincing for me to try a new perfume. If a celebrity endorsed it or my favorite magazine labeled it the new “it” product, it went on my Christmas or birthday wishlist and I instantly became a fan. Whether a fragrance smelled sickly sweet or had notes of wood didn’t matter much—I would douse myself in it every day and felt cool doing it, too.

Fast forward years later, and I’ve become particular about smells. My nose has gotten so sensitive that strong candles give me a headache and certain dry shampoos can send me into a sneezing fit. I still love perfume, but when shopping for a new one, I’ve become super selective.

Over the past few weeks, Viktor&Rolf’s Flowerbomb Tiger Lily has solidified its spot as my new favorite. What I like about this scent is that it’s fresh and fragrant without being too intense. Even the smallest amount seems to last all day without fading, and all you’ll need is a quick spritz before heading out the door.

While one of Flowerbomb Tiger Lily’s key notes is mango, I wouldn’t categorize it as a fruity fragrance. Instead, crisp top notes like bergamot and coconut milk accord balance it out, while a hint of tiger-lily accord adds a floral twist.

Benzoin also brings a warmer, rich, and woody scent into this specific mix, ensuring this perfume doesn’t come across as too feminine. It’s a bit sweeter and different than the original Flowerbomb — which, according to Viktor&Rolf, is known for its “explosive” floral “sensory experience.” However, I sometimes find that option to be a bit overwhelming, so that’s another positive for me.

As previously mentioned, this spicy-floral-fruity scent seems to last all day long. It doesn’t fade, but I do find that some of the sweeter notes begin to pop after a few hours. On more than one occasion, people have stopped to ask what perfume I’m wearing, noting that whatever it is, it smells really good.

Funnily enough, Flowerbomb Tiger Lily is still an “it” perfume. I’ve seen it all over my TikTok FYP and it’s even endorsed by Emily Ratajkowski, who stars in the campaign. Plus, like all Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb fragrances, the bottle is shaped like a grenade — a detail that makes it look extra cool and worth putting on display.

Reviews for this fragrance describe it as reminiscent of a relaxing tropical beach vacation, but I’d take it one step further. To me, it’s something you’d spray before heading out on a sunny, fun-filled adventure (I swear it makes me feel energized), but could also wear for a sexy, beachside dinner date later on.

Basically, it’s the perfect perfume to pack in your suitcase, and for sure the scent of spring and summer 2024.
