A safari is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and the planning phase can be a whirlwind of excitement and decision-making. As we guide our guests through the initial stages of planning their trip, one of the most frequently asked questions is, “How many nights should I spend on safari?”. The truth is, there is no universal answer when it comes to the perfect safari length. Drawing upon our years of expertise in crafting magical safari experiences, we are well-equipped to offer recommendations, but your personal preferences, budget considerations, and overall itinerary are the guiding principles in crafting your bespoke safari experience.

That being said, in our 97 years of heritage and accumulated wisdom, we’ve found that a four-night, five-day safari is the ultimate for a well-rounded safari experience, here’s why…

Your arrival day is filled with excitement, moving at an extremely fast pace fuelled by your lengthy travels and the thrill of arriving in a brand-new environment. Upon arrival, you’ll get to fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking wilderness of Londolozi, familiarize yourself with your camp, engage with our friendly staff, and settle into your new home for the next few days.

After checking in and getting comfortable in your chalet, your adventure truly begins. You’ll head out on your first game drive, where you’ll explore the beauty of the Londolozi wilderness. As the sun sets, you can enjoy a picturesque sunset with drinks in hand. The night brings a memorable dinner beneath the starlit African sky and before you know it, you’ll retire to your cozy room, falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the wild. Between the fast pace of the day, along with any possible jet lag from your travels, you’ll find comfort in knowing that more days of safari adventures lie ahead of you.

During your stay at Londolozi, you’ll go on two game drives daily – one at the crack of dawn and another in the late afternoon. Waking up early may take a bit of getting used to, but after a day or two, you’ll fall right into the safari routine, eagerly anticipating your sunrise coffee and crisp mornings out exploring the wilderness.

For first-time safari goers, The Big Five (Lion, Rhino, Leopard, Elephant, and Cape Buffalo) are often at the top of their must-see list. We are lucky to have a substantial population of these iconic animals. Londolozi, in particular, is renowned for its frequent leopard sightings and exciting lion dynamics.

With the luxury of more time, a safari becomes an opportunity to appreciate not only the magnificence of the Big Five but also the smaller wonders of the bush—like the diverse array of trees, insects, and birds.
