FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers man is in jail after deputies say he chased two roommates around the house with a machete Sunday night.

Neighbors along Adams Road said William McLain’s son owns the property where McLain, 61, was arrested Sunday. The family has reportedly had issues in the past.

“I live a couple of houses down,” Mika Son said.

She and her husband were home Sunday night when they saw flashing lights and sirens down their street.

“Her husband went outside to check the mail and saw some ambulances and police cars going down the street,” Son said.

Lee County deputies (LCSO) said they responded to a  call for a roommate being chased by McLain holding a machete.

One of the victims told police he woke up to screaming in the living room.

When he walked in he saw McLain holding a machete and fighting with one of his roommates.

Then McLain turned around and started to chase them into the kitchen.

Deputies surrounded the house before they arrested McLain, who was found inside on the couch with the machete beside him.

“I don’t know, I think it’s bizarre,” Son said.

LCSO said once McLain was detained, he was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

That is where the report said he was yelling and cursing at nurses.

After doctors cleared him, deputies put McLain back in handcuffs and behind bars where he is now.
