In 1984, Marcy Walker made her Santa Barbara debut as Eden Capwell, who would soon kick off her epic romance with A Martinez’s Cruz Castillo. Walker exited the show in 1991 after winning a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Lead Actress for her portrayal of Eden. Prior to joining SB, the actress was well-known to soap fans for her run as scheming Liza Colby on All My Children.

In 1987, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) and Jack Deveraux (James Acheson) wed on Days of Our Lives. While Jack was in love with Kayla and excited to begin a life with her, the bride was actually in love with Steve Johnson, who was secretly (at the time) Jack’s brother. Aware of their connection and pitying Jack, who suffered from Hodgkin’s disease, Steve had pushed Kayla away so that she would be available to Jack. After the marriage took place, however, Kayla fell into an affair with Steve, and when Jack found out the truth, he raped her.

In 2006, Brandon Beemer (pictured with Farah Fath as Mimi Lockhart) assumed the role of Days of Our Lives‘s Shawn Brady. The pivotal role of Bo and Hope Brady’s firstborn had become available when Jason Cook exited in 2005 after a six-year run. Beemer remained with the show until 2008, then returned in 2016. He has played the role off and on ever since.

In 2007, One Life To Live’s Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) remarried “Todd Manning” (Trevor St. John), who later turned out to be a brainwashed Victor Lord, Jr. This was their fifth marriage, and this time, they did not marry for love. Rather, “Todd” enticed Blair into holy matrimony with a $5 million payday, as he needed a wife to improve his chances of getting custody of Sam, his son with Margaret Cochran. Sam, who was then known as Tommy McBain, had been adopted by an unwitting Michael and Marcie McBain. This union between the couple lasted until 2008, when it ended in divorce.

As the ceremony got underway, Spinelli told Maxie in the most heartfelt of terms that he loved her and knew that she didn’t want to go through with the wedding. Her once and future stepdad, Mac Scorpio, fainted with relief. A beaming Maxie told Spinelli how much it meant to her that he was putting her desire not to wed over his desire to say, “I do,” and vowed to be his loving non-wife. The priest then pronounced them un-married, and the couple shared a passionate kiss.
