FCM has opened an office in Barcelona in an effort to expand its presence and service management capabilities in Spain, the travel management company announced.

To date, FCM has served clients in Spain with the assistance of local agency partnerships, and the TMC also operates one of its technology hubs, FCM Lab, in Spain. FCM now has decided to invest in a direct-to-market strategy in the country, given “changing customer requirements” and “considerable business development opportunities,” according to FCM global managing director Marcus Eklund.

Solenn Le Brazidec, who oversees FCM’s business across France and Switzerland, is adding Spain to her responsibilities and will lead the Barcelona team. The office will enable FCM to offer “a deeper level of service,” according to Le Brazidec.

“With this deeper alignment across the wider region, FCM aims to further increase the standardization of its processes, as well as the quality of its services through greater global consistency, better services, improved data management and better monitoring of service level agreements,” she said in a statement. “This integration into FCM’s global systems means we will be able to provide customers with a true end-to-end FCM experience.”

FCM currently reports a portfolio of more than 50 clients across Spain and has added several new accounts over the past month. It also handles ground travel arrangement for global clients with business interests in Spain, including BASF, AXA, Parexel and Procter & Gamble, according to FCM.
