embark top 10
unleashed challenges

Oct 24, 2022

It’s time to party! Our fun-loving furry friends spent so much of their time engaging in play. Most dogs are always up for a game and capturing these candid moments of pure joy in your photos can be challenging, but rewarding.

Dogs at play are the best entertainment. Fun-loving cheeky and mischievous, the best moments often happen when you’re least expecting it.

Getting dogs playing freely and acting naturally gives you the best possible chance of capturing the best moments of their party time.

For the final challenge of Embark, we want to see challengers capture those playful moments and celebrate all the joy that dogs (or other pets) bring.

This collection of images is our top 10 from the submissions this time around. Well done to the photographers, what fantastic work.

Annabel Richman

A fantastic low angle and a very simple but effective Party Time image. Great use of negative space and lovey contrast and texture in the subject.

Cassie Latta-Johnson | Wet Nose Images

Not a dog but definitely a party! Great editing treatment and a really engaging portrait of a playful cat.

Catherine Thuaux

There a gorgeous subtle colour palette here and the dogs playing together has been captured perfectly and is exactly what the Party Time challenge is all about.

Chantal Levesque | Chantal Levesque Photo

What a different and creative take on the challenge brief. The technique, using coloured lights and a slow shutter speed has worked really well, the leaps are very graphic.

Fiona Lovett

This dog knows how to party! Great action, a wonderful colour palette, and there are really subtle leading lines that point you towards the dog.

Heidi Adler | Heidi Adler Photography

This is such an engaging shot showing the joy of puppies. Swishing ears, big goofy paws and bright inquisitive eyes.

Pauliina Saarinen | Pauliina Saarinen Photography

A fantastic image with lovely depth and a dog who is clearly having a good time with their stick!

Stephanie Smith | Stephanie Lynne Photography

This is a very playful and engaging image, this dog is so intensely focused on catching that ball and having a good time!

Tiffany Wilson | Tiffany Wilson Pet Photography

Lovely image and the low angle really draws you in to the dog in the centre of the swirl of leaves.

Tracey Walker | Tracey Walker Art

Great use of the two dogs and their mirrored body language for a very creative take on the Party Time brief.
