Detroit Red Wings Uneil Centennial Uniforms for 2025-26 Season

[ad_1]

The Detroit Red Wings are celebrating a century of hockey tradition in style. On Monday, the franchise unveiled its new centennial uniforms that will be worn during select games throughout the 2025-26 season, a season marking 100 years since professional hockey arrived in Detroit.

The new look isn’t just a fresh jersey, it’s a walk through history. The design pays homage to the team’s origins in 1926 as the Detroit Cougars, their brief stint as the Detroit Falcons, and, of course, the birth of the Detroit Red Wings under James E. Norris in 1932.

A Blend of Eras

  • Cougars Tribute: A redrawn Olde English “D” appears as a secondary logo on the pants, jersey tag, and hem loop, a direct callback to the team’s first uniforms. The number font also borrows from the Cougars’ famous “Barber Pole” look of 1927-28.
  • Falcons Tribute: The hem, sleeve, and sock striping reflect the Falcons era, with a vintage off-white tone to give it that throwback vibe.
  • Leather Touches: Brown patches on the jersey tie in with leather-colored gloves, a nod to the traditional gear of early hockey days.

When Fans Will See Them

The centennial sweater makes its debut Oct. 9 when Detroit opens the season at home against the Montreal Canadiens, fittingly, another Original Six rival. Fans can expect the jerseys to be worn at more than a dozen home games.

For those who want to grab one, pre-orders are available now at ShopHockeytown.com, with in-person sales starting in early October at the Red Wings Team Store at Little Caesars Arena.
