Tremaine Emory, former creative director at hype beast / rich white kid fashion company Supreme, has spoken out that he left the company because of systemic racism.
Quick summary:
• 90% of the design studio is white. Less than 10% is minority despite the fact that Supreme is based on black street culture.
• They cancelled a collaboration with filmmaker Arthur Jafa without speaking to Tremaine despite him being the creative director.
• People are calling him out in the comments though because the collaboration he was working on with Arthur Jafa featured images of “black men being hung and the freed slave gordon pictured with his whip lashes on his back” and Supreme is a brand worn by white kids.
