An army vet and drag queen are among the heroes who stopped an active shooter who opened fire at an LGBTQ nightclub over the weekend.

According to the New York Times, Army vet Richard Fierro, who was at the club Saturday night with his wife and daughter, went into combat mode to subdue and disarm the suspect, 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich, as bullets sprayed inside Club Q in Colorado Springs.

As Fierro struggled with the shooter, he reportedly called for backup, and that’s when a drag queen ran over and stomped out the shooter with her heels. Fierro then began to beat Aldrich with his own gun and repeatedly punched him into submission. Together, among other heroes, they saved dozens of lives.

Minutes later, authorities got there, tackled and handcuffed Aldrich, who was covered in blood.

A total of five people were killed and 25 injured in the shooting.

Aldrich was charged Monday with five counts of first-degree murder and five counts of bias-motivated crime-causing bodily injury by state prosecutors.
