One of the nicest forms of flattery for a photographer is a repeat client.
I am Kim Hollis, my pet photography company is BARKography and I’m based in Charlotte NC. I do both private and commercial photography work.
Recently I had a former client with Furfect City contact me about doing new product photos for a new line she needed to promote.
She hired me last year to do leash and harness photos and she needed the same thing again.
Based on my last experience with her, I knew I was going to enjoy myself. In our contract, I find the dog models for her and it’s one of my favorite parts of the process.
Since I’ve have two Charlotte based business, one is dog walking that I started in 2009 and BARKography that I launched in 2016, I know a lot of dogs.
Over the years, I’ve had a lot of experience working with a lot of different dogs. That is so helpful when it comes to finding dog models for commercial pet photography work.
When doing commercial photography work, the photos need to tell a story. This particular client wants the dogs to look happy, at ease, and enjoying life.
I needed to find dogs that would show this off in the photos. My dog Molly wouldn’t be a great fit for this because (1) she’s too big and (2) she always looks very serious. It’s just the way she is.
