Founded in 1906, New Balance originally specialised in shoes with arch supports and other accessories designed to improve shoe fit and comfort. However, in the 1930s, the company began producing running shoes, quickly gaining a reputation for quality and innovation in the athletic shoe industry.
One of the brand’s key innovations was its use of a variety of width sizes to accommodate different foot shapes. This gave New Balance a point of difference, as it was a departure from the one-size-fits-all approach that was common at the time.
