According to CNN, a district court judge denied a grand jury indictment against the 28-year-old Bryan Kohberger. During the public hearing of the accused, his defendants argued that the instructions given to the grand jury were improper. However, this argument was not enough to convince the Latah County District Court Judge John Judge.
He rejected the indictment by saying, “I am constrained by what I believe is settled law in Idaho … This is certainly an issue that you would have to bring with a higher court, like the Idaho Supreme Court.” He further added, “I think the argument is good, but I can’t go that far, not today.”
Who is Bryan Kohberger and what did he allegedly do?
28-year-old Bryan Kohberger was arrested on December 30, 2022, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. He allegedly murdered four students of the University of Idaho by stabbing them to death.
The incident took place several weeks before his arrest, i.e. on November 13, 2022. Two of the victims were female, while the others were male. Their names were, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, and Ethan Chapin. Chapin and Kernodle were apparently in a relationship when they were murdered. All four of them shared a rented home, that is located near the university campus. During the time of the murder, there were two other females in the house. However, they were not attacked.
More than a month after the crime, Kohberger was arrested, and he has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and a count of felony burglary. Born on November 21, 1994, Bryan Kohberger received his degree in psychology at Northampton Community College. He then enrolled at DeSales University in 2020 and received a bachelor’s degree. When he was arrested, he was doing his Ph.D. in criminology at the Washington State University’s Pullman campus (He had just finished his first semester). He was even a teaching assistant.
