Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Sean Burke are officially breaking up.
A year after announcing a trial separation, Windham-Burke filed for divorce from her husband of 23 years in a court in Orange County on Monday, October 17, per People.
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum and Burke had been together for 28 years, and share seven children: 22-year-old daughter Bella, 20-year-old daughter Rowan, 17-year-old Jacob, nine-year-old twins Caden and Curren, seven-year-old daughter Koa, and four-year-old daughter Hazel.
Court documents, according to People, show Windham-Burke list “irreconcilable difference” as the reason for the divorce, and the 44-year-old reality star is requesting shared legal custody of their children, but asking for physical custody with Burke being granted visitation.
Windham-Burke is also requesting spousal support, division of personal property and that Burke pay her lawyer’s fees.
Almost two years ago, Windham-Burke came out as a lesbian, and the former couple remained married as they dated other women. A year ago, however, they announced a trial separation.
”Those who have followed our story probably aren’t surprised to find out how difficult attempting to create a ‘modern family’ is,” Windham-Burke told People. “For the protection, integrity and love for my children, that’s all I will share as I navigate this new chapter.”
“I will always have so much love for the family we created that will continue to flourish and thrive.”
Windham-Birke has been dating 38-year-old Jennifer Spinner for the last three months.
The television personality came out almost one year after getting sober in January 2020, and the former couple renewed their vows at the 20-year mark in a televised ceremony that November.
Windham-Burke said when she came out that Burke was her “person” and her “family” and that they intended on staying married.
