After having to hear about it constantly for over a decade, Black Adam’s seven-week run in theaters has been a flop.
With $195 million in production costs and another $80 million in global marketing, the Dwayne Johnson superhero film has only amassed a lackluster $387 million worldwide. The film would have needed to get close to $600 million for Warner Bros to recoup the $275 million they spent and the film to turn a profit. Variety is reporting the studio will lose anywhere from $50-$100 million.
Warner sources dispute these figures, saying $400 million will be good enough and that home entertainment releases happening faster than the norm reduces marketing costs and will help pushed the film into the black.
