Captain Sandy Yawn says she doesn’t need Captain Lee Rosbach’s “permission,” and her call after Camille Lamb‘s firing was a “courtesy.”
Camille became the first firing of Below Deck season 10 after being accused of not doing her job and showing disrespect. Not long afterward, Sandy fired second stew Alissa Humber, who faced similar accusations
After Camille’s termination, Sandy called Lee – who was temporarily replaced in order to recover from health issues – to inform him of the firing. As the episodes aired, however, Lee took to Twitter and shaded Sandy for not informing him before. In a series of posts, the 73-year-old suggested Sandy showed a lack of respect, and expressed his disappointment in her decisions, though he admitted the firing was necessary.
On the “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay” podcast, the host asked Captain Sandy about her recent drama with Lee.
She said the “last thing” she wanted was to call Captain Lee while he was still in the hospital.
“I don’t need his permission to fire anybody,” Sandy continued. “I’m signed on as captain. I’m fully responsible for their lives.”
According to Sandy, her “call after” the firing was a “courtesy.”
“That was a courtesy call,” Sandy explained. “Did I have to do it? No.”
In a previous interview for SiriusXM’s Reality Checked, Sandy shared her desire to take the high road.
“When they go low, we go high,” she said. “I told Lee I was, like ‘Hurt people hurt people,’ right? So, I don’t know. I haven’t ever hurt ’em, but I think when you spew that kind of stuff, it’s like, it’s inward, and I feel bad for the guy.”
Sandy added, “He’s definitely not acting his age.”
