More than 2,000 AXA Philippines employees took part in AXA Week for Good 2026, the company’s annual employee volunteering initiative. Held under the theme “AXA on a Mission: Together We Move Forward,” this year’s program focused on partnerships intended to create longer-term livelihood, learning, and sustainability benefits for communities.
“When our employees come together, the impact multiplies,” said Sharon Hernandez, chief human resources officer of AXA Philippines. “This year, we’re investing more into partnerships that can help communities thrive in the long run.”
Hernandez added that the company wants volunteerism to extend beyond participation in one-time activities through livelihood initiatives, skills sharing, education, and sustainability programs.
Supporting livelihoods and food security
One of this year’s main activities was “Declutter for a Purpose,” which encouraged employees to sell preloved items and donate the proceeds to Medinilla Café in Siniloan, Laguna. The livelihood project grew out of AXA’s earlier tree-planting and forest-restoration work with Fostering Education and Environment for Development Inc. (FEED).
Funds raised through the initiative will help sustain the café’s operations and support livelihood opportunities for local residents. Unsold items will be donated to partner communities, extending the program’s reach while reducing waste.
Building on its AXA Forest initiative, the company is also supporting community gardens with Project PEARLS. The partnership aims to improve food security and create possible sources of income for participating families.
Learning about social and environmental issues
Employees also joined the “Impact for Action Podcast Series,” which featured experts and nonprofit partners discussing literacy, sustainability, disaster preparedness, workplace safety, circular economy practices, and environmental stewardship. The sessions were designed to connect employees with practical issues faced by communities and introduce opportunities for continued involvement beyond AXA Week for Good.
Participating organizations included BINHI English Literacy Foundation, FEED Inc., the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation, Humble Sustainability, Upstyle, The Soilmate Collective Inc., and AXA Foundation.
Turning everyday actions into community support
Hands-on activities during the week included an e-waste collection drive for used electronic devices that could be refurbished or recycled. Proceeds from the initiative will benefit Project PEARLS.
Employees working remotely also contributed through “Learning Buddies,” which involved creating reading activity sheets for young learners. Another activity, “Love in Every Bite,” gathered nutritious and budget-friendly recipes for sharing with partner communities.
AXA Week for Good is part of AXA Hearts in Action, the company’s global employee volunteering program. Through community partnerships, skills sharing, and livelihood support, the 2026 initiative aimed to make employee participation part of a more sustained approach to community development.
