Netflix is turning back the clock to move talent forward with the return of “Star Search,” set to premiere on January 13, 2026. Anthony Anderson will host the revival, ushering in a fresh era of the beloved competition.
The show will air live twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. This reboot isn’t just a nostalgia trip; it’s a fully modernized experience with real-time global voting that lets viewers pick who advances.
“The talent is bigger, the stakes are higher, and the format is more interactive than ever,” Netflix said in its official logline.
Performers across categories like music, comedy, dance, magic, variety, and juniors will compete head-to-head. Weekly eliminations aim to keep the energy high and viewers engaged throughout the season.
Anderson brings a wealth of experience, having hosted major shows including the Emmys and NAACP Image Awards. He’s also known for his Emmy-nominated role on “Black-ish” and films like “Barbershop”and “The Departed.”
Produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, the reboot will be led by showrunners Jason Raff and David Friedman, with Collins, Dionne Harmon, Madison Merritt, and Elaine Metaxas on board as executive producers.
With Netflix at the helm and a live audience ready to vote, this new Star Search could launch the careers of tomorrow’s icons.
