• Ghosted and Blonde star Ana de Armas makes her SNL debut tonight! She is the third 2023 Oscar nominee to host the show this season, and is the first Best Actress nominee to host since Carey Mulligan hosted all the way in April 2021.
• Ana is the fourth Latino host this season and like Aubrey, Pedro, and Jenna, she makes her hosting debut in the second half of the season. This breaks the record SNL set last year for Latino hosts when Ariana DeBose, Oscar Isaac, and Selena Gomez hosted in the second half of season 47.
• Musical guest Karol G is making her first ever appearance on the show tonight and also gets to make her own SNL record: this is the first SNL episode where both the host and musical guest are Latinas.
• SNL is going on a planned two week break, and the rumor is that SNL alum Pete Davidson will host the show on May 6. But with the looming WGA strike there is a very real possibility that this will be the last episode of season 48. Writers’ strikes have effected the show before; the March-August 1988 strike led to a shortened 13th season and the 2007-2008 writers strike led to a shortened 33rd season.
