Due to a recent court ruling that restricts the communication between government officials and social media companies regarding free speech, the State Department has canceled its scheduled meetings with Facebook officials.

The meetings were set to discuss election preparations and potential hacking threats, but further guidance is needed before they can be rescheduled.

The ruling prohibits government involvement in removing, deleting, suppressing, or reducing protected free speech content on social media platforms.
