But over the years, the Fed has ramped up its communications. Today, it announces rate moves, puts out economic projections, holds news conferences after every policy-setting meeting and makes sure its officials speak regularly.
Transparency both helps the Fed’s reputation and allows it to guide markets and the economy through expectations.
